China has provided over 1 million parts that either have been used or will be used in American military technology and those parts have been found to be defective by the Senate Armed Services Committee. China sees an opportunity to flood the American market with defective technology which will degrade the US military machine. What is the cost of using defective Chinese hardware in American military technology? Should the DOD be buying military parts from China? How can America buy military hardware from a country that it could potentially be at war with? What do we really know about China’s nuclear arsenal? They have constructed up to 3,000 kilometers of underground tunnels to conceal military weaponry and that should cause concern as to what they are hiding and what it could be used for.

I don't think the DOD is buying anything directly from China, but instead through some less than reputable contractors that want to increase profits.

ya, it's the contractors that buy the parts to build the units.

Used to be a country of origin was required on each bill of materials list submitted.

If the COO wasn't 'in the approved list', well, sorry, even with an invoice presented, it wasn't paid.

These days? oh my.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It's tough these days, to find good Czech or Japanese bearings. Everything seems to come out of China. I remember going to a dozen part houses one time to look for wheel bearing for my own truck, and finally found a place that had some decent bearings.

Dude. My wife refuses to buy China as they are considered her countries mortal enemy. She wanted a toaster oven though and told me to buy one. Turns out they are now all made in China. The best I could do was find one that was assembled in the U.S, and about half the parts made in China. I lied and said it was American made. We are in the process of having to buy a lot of house hold goods and I am dreading on how I am going to accomplish it.
