Hi all,

Yesterday I received an email from USCIS stating that a testing and interview date has been assigned to our case. The interview date is 12/12, which is not even 2,5 month from the file date. While this is a great news, I am surprised because we are have AP case pending and waiting for the AP case be resolved quickly.

Basically here is my question, does AP depends on the outcome of the AOS interview? I am expecting AP to be approved in the next 2 weeks and want to make sure the AP will not delay due to AOS interview

Also, the minor kids are called for the interview as well. Is that normal? What, if anything, they will be asked?

Here is the email snippet from yesterday:

It just means your local office is moving quickly. AP doesn't depend on your interview but with an interview so soon it is possible you may get your green card before your AP.

As for your kids, are they adjusting status as well?

In that case, yes, it's normal for them to be called as well. Seems as if your case is on track. :)

Says the interview. We did biometrics on 10/27. I am skeptical because the paperwork is moving so fast. By the way, how long does it take to get the physical card after the interview? My family wants to go home for the holidays and that is why we are hoping to get the AP in few weeks.

You may not get AP at all till the interview. I had interview scheduled in almost exactly 2 months from filing date (Nov21st), did not receive EAD/AP until today (do not really need them though).

You should get your GC within 30 days of approval (usually sooner). Not all IOs approve on the spot though. You may still end up with AP in the meantime however.
