I miss free crabs in Juneau
Uh... you want to get crabs from someone in Juneau?

Last day of last trip to Ecuador, Mrs. T-B. flashed her puppy-dog eyes and said, "I want crabs." I almost responded that she had the entire male population of Ecuador to choose from, but we found a crabhouse where she pigged out.

http://www.clubparisrestaurant.com/ <---- If your ever in Anchorage, Alaska...Club Paris ftw! It's been around for decades, doesn't look all that flashy, but the food is #1, and the drinks are typical Alaskan...all booze and no mix.

If it's not "all booze and no mix" you paid for expesive kool-aid.

Should I find myself in Anchorage I'll stop there to have a drink.

How far are you from Anchorage?

Nice pics Kip. The pic "flying into Chignik Bay" you refer to it as "suckville usa."

That looks so peaceful to me, no gang bangers, graffiti, freeway sound walls, miles of traffic or busy freeways at 5 am.

These villages are pretty mellow for the most part....until the locals get some fire water in their veins anyways. Here's a few more pics of Chignik Bay. These are all from this mid September.

Here's a Brown Bear doing some fishing. The wife said this bear was less than a ten minute walk from the cabin they were staying at.

Here's a few fishing boats that haven't been dry docked yet. Usually all the boats up here are dry docked by no later than October 1st.

And a few random photo's of the bay...

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

All very nice pics Kip. A naturally beautiful place, the weather serves as population control to keep excessive numbers of a$$ hats out.

How far are you away from Anchorage and where those pics where taken?

All those last pics were taken at Chignik Bay. I'm about a 1 hr 15 min. flight from Anchorage. But come the end of next summer where moving back home... Big Lake...just north of Wasilla which is about an hours north drive from Anchorage. I'm not sure if you do any hunting or fishing, but if you ever make it this way I can hook you up with all the halibut, salmon and rainbow trout you can handle. Hunting for out of staters here though is spendy.

Yeah Kip, I'm an avid hunter and love to fish. I can't eat enough fish and other seafood, since I do not eat beef or pork.

I keep telling myself to take one of those last cruises in like August or September to the inside passage, but I'd rather fly there so I can do my own thing as I please and not be hearded around on a ship.

I will get over there to visit, fish, hunt and see the place. I love nature and marvel at its beauty, in fact some of my buddies can't understand some of the trips I've taken or why I would bother to visit those places.

Those guys are urban and suburban harden, I have to get out from time-to-time to be with nature.

When I first went to Alaska, I couldn't shut my mouth for about a month, it's so breathtakingly beautiful. I fished every day that I could, but never hunted anything bigger than porcupine; I used their quills for jewelry.

Don't take a commercial cruise up the inside passage; that's for wussies. We took the ferry, which came out of Seattle at that time. Now, it's out of Bellingham. My dad and one of my brothers came up while we were there, and they were so taken with the place that I didn't see them sometimes for days. It's a pretty mesmerizing place, off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.

Thanks for the reply, I was sitting here looking at some pics and videos of the incredible Alaskan scenery.

And yeah, no cruise, as I said, I need to be able to do my own thing, no heards for me.

Alaska is on my bucket list

Moldovia via Dubai and the Abu Dhabi oil rigs ...... too high mileage....

come away with more than happy memories I reckon

Anyway, back to Alaska - the Eskimos seal their wives into the back of the kayak with whale grease and go off for 3 week seal hunts

Imagine the pong ! I bet they paddle into the wind all the way and come back at max knots

I reckon its Florida again for me - inner bay at Tampa
