Oh yeah, the wild Alaskan smoked salmon chowder is to die for also.

Before the "no liquids" policy on airplanes, I managed to get 32.oz containers of Ivar's chowder

home with me.

I wanna go to Seattle :crying:

They have the best vagrants of any city

The women don't use toilets - they use the middle of the pavement

...and there is nowhere to park and it rains all the time

It's great - I like it - it confirms that my superiority complex is fact-based

Yours is a teeming metropolis, si man. What does she do in these podunk villages, huh man? With winter coming, you'd be warmer as toast, see man.

Here's a few pics from different trips she's taken. Some from last year, some from this year. The do their travelling in the fall and winter. Spring time and summer is fishing season and that's when the villagers net fish for subsistence, and the rest commercial fish. Sofiyya can relate to this...she did something similar when she lived up here.

The wife showing off trying to look cool. But you can see the planes they fly in.

dsc00061small.jpg

Here's that same plane being loaded with gear. A lot of times the pilot will make two trips due to weight and volume issues.

dsc00145small.jpg

This is from another trip where they are loading up.

dsc00355small.jpg

This is inside either a school or clinic in a village. They usually let the kids watch while their working on someone...it's about the only action there.

dsc00422smallq.jpg

This is the school with clinic inside at a village called Manakoatak. Iv'e been there myself, it's about a 1 hour snow machine ride from here. That school is decked inside, and cost the US tax payers millions even though the population there might reach 500 in the summer...if that. You can see the four wheelers and snow machines out number the vehicles there. btw that's a sled dog there in the foreground.

dsc00087smallh.jpg

This is another school w/small clinic inside. It's in Perryville I believe which is down at the beginning of the Aleutian Chain.

dsc00405small.jpg

This is flying into Chignik Bay, which is at the end of the Alaska Peninsula but it's on the Kodiak side and not the Bering Sea side. You can see the boat harbor on the left. Nothing there...sucksville, usa.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Cool pics Kip. Thanks for sharing!

The wife got a cool pic of her cat vs a Arctic Fox from this morning. I messed up and let the cat out when the fox was on the front porch just to see what would happen. Little did I know Kira was getting ready to take a pic of the fox out the bedroom window. When she saw her cat run outside towards the fox she fckng flipped out on me. I could have sworn she was still in the bathroom getting ready for work...major fck up on my part. Anyways when she cools down I'l grab that pic off her camera. It was a Mexican stand off....the fox held it's ground and the cat didn't back off either.

Nice pics, Kip! Brings back good memories (despite the crashes).

Man you are lucky you didn't bite the big one on any of those. You have more lives than a cat.

http://www.ivars.com/ <---- Ivar's.

http://www.clubparisrestaurant.com/ <---- If your ever in Anchorage, Alaska...Club Paris ftw! It's been around for decades, doesn't look all that flashy, but the food is #1, and the drinks are typical Alaskan...all booze and no mix.
