USCIS RFE RESPONSE

Hello, so here is a brief background info about my situation. I live in Wisconsin and filed 485 application and it is at the lees summit office right now. In September I received a rfe and i promptly responded to the request and it arrived on September 7th. It has been pass the sixty day waiting period now and I have still haven't received any decision as of yet. I did my part by following there directions and waited. So I did the next best thing and made a infopass appointment but it was no help at all because my file was at a different office then my local office and they wont be able to figure out what is going except what it says on the website, I was told. I was then blown off with what the next stages would be. . I would like to know what can I do from this point on? All answers are appreciated. Big thanks.

P.S if it helps my EAD was approved two days after they received my response to their request for evidence.

That means that your RFE response was sufficient and that's why your EAD was approved. Now you're waiting for an interview date. Same with me, only I sent in the RFE response and 3 weeks later they approved my EAD and I received it in the mail. Then I got a letter for my interview.

I am confused, did you get your biometrics letter before your RFE and that is how you got the EAD so soon after your RFE response? I received a RFE before getting a biometrics appointment, sent in my response which they replied on Oct 27th they received it. I am hoping to get a biometrics letter in the mail soon.

It all depends on what the RFE was for on whether or not the EAD approval means anything, if the RFE was for something that isn't required for the EAD, the RFE would have no effect on the processing the EAD as i see it, i would assume since they haven't contacted you about not recieving itit should be ok

Ah no. The EAD is tied to the AOS, as is the AP. All processing is paused on ALL applications if an RFE is issued. Once the RFE is successfully replied to processing continues. It is still possible to get an RFE AFTER the EAD/AP are issued but of course as you have them they're not affected.

Yep that's right..in my case I received my biometrics appt. before I got my RFE and my whole application stopped until they finished reviewing my response to it; then I got the EAD notice that it's been approved and under production.

Interesting! Our biometrics letter was sent before USCIS received our RFE response so in our case not everything was put on hold. However, our RFE was related to AP (forgot to include pictures) and this was before the combo card so it didn't really affect the EAD or 485.

Biometrics is different. Biometrics is required to process your AOS so I'm not surprised that wasn't delayed.

I realize that. My point was just that not EVERYTHING is halted waiting for the RFE, just most of it.

Well, I would have to side with Vanessa on this one, everything sure has been halted since my RFE, I am now waiting on their response to my response..all to do with the medical...hopefully soon.

Your RFE is directly related to your 485, though. Ours was related only to AP (which doesn't require biometrics) which I would presume is why processing for our biometrics was not halted. Hopefully you will get a response and/or biometrics letter shortly!

Yeah!!! Today is my birthday and in the mail was a letter from USCIS giving me my biometrics appointment on Dec 7, 2011!!! They must be happy with my RFE response!
