That's kind of a personal question that you and your fiance will need to talk about and decide for yourselves.

Things to consider:

- you'd have to have 125% of the poverty income for 3 (you, fiance, child) if the baby is born before your K1 is complete.

- you'd have to be financially prepared to pay for the expenses of a child on top of the fees for K1/AOS/Moving.

- the baby could be born before your fiance(e) reaches the US.

- you'd have to be able to afford medical insurance for your fiancee and child to cover the cost of birth in the US (expensive)

- you'd have to be able to pay for all dr. visits before the child is born.

- stress of K1 process might be overwhelming when pregnant

Just a few things you may want to think about.

i think waiting until your fiance is in the US to even think about having a baby would be wise

Isn't there a thing called pre-existing condition when it comes to adding to health insurance?

What I do know is that it won't affect the I-129f petition on denial/approval other than what has already been mentioned.

What happens is that your fiancee will be pregnant in her home country without you by her side. SOme are okay with that, some are not. But it's probably a good idea to take the other advise given in this thread, or hope to get some feedback from somebody who were pregnant through this. Is can be a stressful process, depends on how she handles stress too.

Remember some won't let pregnant women fly after a certain amount of weeks.

You should use a jimmy. If she were to get pregnant it won't be the end of the world, but it certainly would make for that much more for you to think about and be responsible for. One thing at a time, man!

On a personal note, we actually discovered that my then-finacee was pregnant with our first child at the medical exam in Cd. Juarez. How's that for shaking things up a little?? She was still approved, but with that news and some other unforseen circumstances we settled down in Mexico and I guess that was just our destiny.

Timeline:

02/04/2004 - A young Zinker arrives in Mexico to study Spanish and the dating game begins

2004--2005 - Many subsequent visits to Mx ensue to be with my love; engaged in March 2005!

04/??/2005 - I-129F is filed from within the US

06/09/2005 - Zinker moves to Mexico

09/??/2005 - I-129F is approved

10/15/2005 - Interview in Cd. Juarez and subsequently approved for a K1 Visa!..But visa is left in Juarez

10/17/2005 - Due to unexpected pregnancy and a job offer in Mx - we decide not to pursue the visa and it expires :(

01/04/2006 - Married in Mexico

10/09/2011 - Two children later and a comfortable life in Mexico... Preparing to file I-130 in December 2011. Stay Tuned!
