First a little background. My husband and I filed for his AOS in August. We filled out the I-864 using his income as I am a graduate student and have essentially no income and haven't filed a a positive tax return in 3 years. We met 125% of the poverty limit using his income as a teacher. However, since he only started working in 10/2010 (when his H1B was approved) our 2010 tax return shows a very low income. He had no taxable income from the earlier part of 2010 as he was a full-time student in Canada. We included contracts showing an annual income above the 125% in addition to paystubs showing YTD pay for 2011. Basically, our 2011 tax return would more than satisfy the requirement. What we provided was not sufficient and we received a RFE.

So my question is what do we do next? I am thinking about asking my parents to act as sponsers, but I'm not sure what that would entail. We do not live with them. Would they just need to fill out I-864/I-864A and include a copy of their 2010 tax return and passports?
