Well, if the derps on this site would actually learn what socialism is, it wouldn't be a problem. Willful ignorance is no real excuse.

Socialism: Having the government take what you earned, and giving to someone that didn't.

How do "Do Not Resuscitate" and "No Extraordinary Measures" instructions work, if not to empower a person's choice to refuse medical care?

I didn't say you couldn't refuse medical treatment, did I? Go back and read what I wrote. There was a patient admitted to the hospital for a rattlesnake bite on his finger. It quickly turned his whole arm black and purple and he risked losing his arm and possibly his life without treatment, but he wanted to leave. The doctor allowed him to go once he got all the anti-venom, but not before. They even had to put him in restraints to keep him there until the doctor felt his life was no longer in danger.

As for DNR - that is something you can sign when you are admitted, but that doesn't mean they won't treat you. All it means is that if you go into cardiac arrest, they won't try and restart your heart.

The reality is that there are numerous people admitted to the hospital without insurance and no means to pay and they will never be turned away. Without state Medicare, Medicaid, most hospitals would have to close down. That's the reality, and the problem with that reality is that these people are getting urgent or emergency treatment because they have no preventative care. That's one of the main reasons why health care costs have skyrocketed in this country. If everyone here had preventive care, we would save an enormous amount of money.

LOL.

You both sure like fiction....can't accept scientific facts, but grasp on to hearsay, like this personal jab at me. In spite of the personal attack by Bill, I am a college graduate, but really that has nothing to do with whether someone is ignorant or not. Obviously you two made quite an example of that. You should feel proud.

You have been warned once to stop the name calling. Two posts containing personal attacks have been removed. Any further comments in this vein will lead to thread bans.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
