Hi! I'm a permanent resident in Canada and I'm just wondering if there are any others in this forum.

Curious if any extra paperwork/questions were asked at the interview? I hear its quite common to go into AP after the interview in Montreal if you were born outside Canada. I was born outside, but don't have a common name. My interview is nov 28 and I'm just trying to be as prepared as possible.

Any thoughts/feedback would be great! :)

My fiance moved to Canada in October of 2008. She is technically not a permanent resident. We have our interview on 11/28. I can say that up to this point there is nothing different about the process.

I was worried that this might be a problem, so I front loaded the petition with as much relationship evidence as possible. During this process, we have accumulated so much more that we will also bring with us to the interview. I will post the results of the interview after.

Thanks to both of you! Krikit, I sure hope some others share their past experience too. Thanks :)

I too have my interview on nov 28. My fiance and I have enough proof of our relationship so I will be carrying that with me. He will be at the interview as well so I'm assuming that may help.

Reymets10- So has your fiancé applied for the PR in canada? Is that how she's able to do the process from here?

I'm a legal PR here, working and all. However my PR card is being renewed at this time which is really why I'm concerned. I have my landing document but in case there's anything else I can carry with me to help at the interview in this regard, I'd rather do that.' I've mentioned it on a different post before, and haven't had too much luck with direct responses.

When the embassy received the petition they sent a letter out asking for proof that she is allowed to be in Canada legally. Although she is not a PR, she is there on a work visa. We mailed in copies of all the paperwork to them and there have been no more issues. So it doesn't appear as if you need to be a PR for the process to go through Canada as long as you can prove you live in Canada legally.

What time is your interview on the 28th? Ours is at 1:45pm.

Not exactly your situation, but I was born in another country, immigrated to Canada, and got Canadian citizenship. The only snag I hit going through the embassy was when they requested I prove that I was a citizen or legally residing in Canada. They didn't ask me any questions about my citizenship at the interview, it didn't even come up. My visa did not go into AP after the interview either.

Oh! That makes sense. Well I can certainly prove that I am here legally, living and working :)

I'm at 8am. Not sure if you're already doing this, but I am carrying a letter of employment from my employer that states my salary and the date I started working with them. I'm also carrying my SIN card and a copy. None of it was asked for, but I'm taking extra stuff just as precaution...
