The usual timeline for Chennai is 50-55 days from NVC case complete date.

This is an estimate...it can be shorter or longer.

Good Luck!

thank you VERY VERY much for your help.

I am not understanding your question clearly. I'm still going to attempt to answer your question.

The DS-230 form and all the documents you sent with the IV packet and the AOS packet will be forwarded to the consulate in Chennai once NVC accepts and completes the case.

These documents are the exact same that the consulate officer will review and make the final decision on approval or disapproval at the time of the interview.

It is good for the beneficary to take a copy of ALL the documents you have submitted (including USCIS documents) just in case there is a discrepancy or a documents lost in the transfer from NVC to the consulate.

The consular officer will most likely base his interview questions off of these documents as well so this provides "study" material for the beneficiary as well.

In terms of VFS (Not VFA) it is an outsourcing visa company. Basically they are the middle man between you and the consulate and they are the ones that issue your visa once you get the approval from the U.S. consulate.

They require you to pay a courier fee and submit certain documents 10 days prior to the interview. I am not sure exactly what Chennai VFS requires but I have sent a message to my friend/another VJ member here that went thru Chennai consulate recently. He should get back to you pretty soon so know exactly what you need to submit to VFS.

That is what they say. Its not always accurate. They always pad their timelines to give themselves plenty of time to work.

They schedule interviews throughout the month. This month might be busier than others. Keep calling NVC daily...

well Dave, the Chennai Consulate posted on their website the interview schedule for December, and there are only 7 days of interview for the entire month? Dec 12, 13, 15, 16, 22, 23, 27....is this an ongoing process or is this the FINAL list, and our CR1 interview date for my wife is not on either of these dates..

Hey,

Our case was completed on 10/26 and my husband's Consulate is Chennai as well. I have been calling NVC, and on Monday they told me, they will be scheduling the next batch bn Nov 17 - Nov 26 or something similar and to call back end of next week. I just saw the schedule for Dec and we are not on it either. So sad. So I guess we are looking at January now!

MIAj, from my research what i understood is it is 8 weeks from the time NVC completes the case, so WE both are on the same boat, our spouses will have their "8 weeks" due by December 16th, it is on dec16th that NVC schedules the batch for January, i pray and hope it is then, i havent seen my wife in SOME time, it feels longerrrr :(
