My wife's GC interview is on Nov 30.. We filed in March and she received her EAD/AP combo card in May.

I have two questions:

One, she's starting to look for jobs now and I was wondering, if she's approved and they take the EAD, what will she use between the interview date and receiving the GC? Is the EAD status actually revoked upon GC approval and/or does her new GC-authorized work status start immediately. It would seem to me that they are continuous or anyone who started work on an EAD would be forced to stop working/quit while awaiting the actual GC (or continue working a current job without telling the employer that their status has changed).

Two, we were hoping to travel for the holidays (to Colombia) and were planning to go based upon her having the GC but decided to use the AP instead as she is still awaiting the GC.. Now, with the interview in late Nov., will we be forced to abandon our plans or buy tickets and hope the GC arrives within 2 weeks after her interview or will she still authorized to travel on AP after her interview while waiting for the GC?

All of this is assuming GC approval, of course... We will go nowhere if it turns out we have to fight for whatever reason after the AOS interview..

Well, I did see elsewhere that AP can still be used after GC interview (w/ approval and while awaiting the actual GC). However, not knowing until 11/30 (at the earliest) might make it too late to buy tickets at a reasonable price for the holidays.

And, with the EAD, in this economy, it would be a shame to have to pass something up (because USCIS took the EAD at the interview) if the employer doesn't want to wait for her to receive the actual GC but it's really not all that likely she'll find something in such a short period of time. On the other hand, wouldn't E-Verify contain her REAL and CURRENT employment eligibility status regardless of her possession of any physical document?

Ok with the EAD it is valid for 12 months right so if she finds a job before the GC interview no probs as that is her legal validation to work. Then once she gets the GC she will just update her info with employer and then the EAD card becomes obsolete. Now with the AP mm you would be cutting it fine hey trying to get tickets for the holidays end of November. But as you have the AP you can still use that even if you don't have GC in hand but I would say if your interview goes well you should have the GC as you said within the 2 weeks. SO early Dec if you book a trip just make sure you get refundable tickets to safe guard yourself.
