Be patient , calling daily will not change or speed up the process of assigning your case #.

Now, no homicidal rampage please, that will get you a booking number at the county lock-up, but no NVC case #. :D

They've told me as long as I'm calling to politely check on the status of my case that it doesn't matter if I call everyday or once a month. They only say to call once a year to keep the petition active (assuming I-130).

Always try to be polite when calling, the NVC people are people after all. I found that calling in the evening after the first shift had done their data logging and second shift was working that I received most of my information. And yes, they do log on your account every call with notations for quality control so if you are nice, polite and not rude or impatient, you will get more information. Sort of like treating others like you would like to be treated and you always get more flies with honey than vinegar!! Best of luck and you'll be able to pick a newbie out immediately when you call because they give you the standard lines.....the experienced ones usually can find out a little info for you.

Lol....thanks guys...I guess I just never felt that calling the heck outta someone would make a difference, but in hindsight I'm a social

Worker with a decent amount of cases and when my clients call ad worry the hell outta me, it makes me stop and deal with there specific issues Simply so they won't call and BOTHER me anymore. Maybe I should increase my harassment of NVC....lol ;)

JaHoney after reading your post I am tempted to call NVC next week to see if my case number is available. My NOA2 was approved on 11/01 and I have already received the hard copy. I am wondering if you were reprimanded for not waiting the 30 days as indicated on the NOA2?

I would call the NVC about every 2-3 days for updates, and it did seem that my case moved along quicker. If I was told to wait until the end of the week, I would wait. I also think that the "squeaky wheel" gets more attention. Using manners and being polite will always get you some more information!

I agree with the other post, you just have to be patient. It takes between 1 to 2 weeks for NVC to forward the case to the appropriate Embassy, It took them 9 days to forward mine to jamaica.

All I want is my case number, so i will try again on Friday and next Monday, then hopefully things will start moving along. Because once December hits, we deal with the embassy closing for u.s and ja holidays, which essentially covers almost a week.

The same logic doesn't work with NVC because there is no single individual assigned to your case - each time you call, you get a different person to speak to. Yes, call daily around 8 PM and you will get an operator quickly.

You're not going to get a December interview at this point anyway (unless Jamaica doesn't have enough applicants to fill their interview slots) .

Since you're CR/IR-1 You;ll need to do the DS-3032, I-864 & DS-230 along with the associated fees at NVC which will take a 2 - 3 weeks at best to process once you have a case number. Figuring that CR/IR Embassy Appointments are assigned by the NVC during the first week of the month for the next batch of available interview dates (most Embassies it's the following month but some are backlogged a few months).

If you got your case number today and were able to get the NVC process completed before the end of November then you could expect a January Interview (in general).
