Stina, I apologize if I've ever replied to your posts rudely. Incanada tends to be a lot less congenial when she posts and I'm with erekose on that - she gets the same in return. I just think it's hypocritical for her to say that I think I speak for Jesus but she doesn't do the very same thing - when she says I'm not Christian or that I can't be if I don't interpret the Bible the way she does.

I remember after watching Farenheight 9/11 twice in movie theatres overseas see people cheer and clap at the end. One guys summed it up by saying, " ###### americans are losers..". He did not equate George Bush and the republicans to the issue as Michael Moore intended. The saw it as someone bashing America as a whole..

Point being, when the left criticizes the right foreigners see this as Americans criticizing themselves and laugh at all Americans. So when the left makes irrational statements, documentaries etc condemning Bush 6.2 billion people who do not live in America simply see this as another reason to bash and hate the US more..

Tell me this, how many parties in other countries with opposing views to whoever is in office blatantly criticize their nation??? I have never ever seen such hatred, as from certain Democrats, from an opposing party in any other country in the world..

For a start - I think you're over-emphasising the importance and impact of Fahrenheit 9/11. Not to mention the fact that many people with anti-whatever views don't need "help" to justify their preconceptions. Some of the comments on this thread would be a good example of that.

Similarly If you think all of this is one-sided I seriously wonder whether you've actually been watching the discourses in this country. They are simplified, focussed more on appearances, personalities, soundbites and slogans. It is not relegated to one side of the partisan divide, nor is it particularly heavily skewed that way.

I don't UNDERSTAND how someone can be a Christian and a liberal, but that doesn't mean I think Christian liberals AREN'T Christian. It's not for me to decide. I only asked because I'm pretty sure I've never actually said, "You're not a Christian, Steven."

Unqualified assumption isn't an answer. I just like to see some qualification to the view that "liberals are destroying the country" because honestly I don't see the proof - and if as you say, it is SO obvious, you shouldn't have any trouble finding examples.

If I seem to be "defending" one side of the fence its because the standard of political discourse in this country is terribly simplistic (something that never ceases to horrify me, coming as it does from people living in the most powerful country on the planet) - and even people who aren't liberal, but simply don't subscribe to the party political system (as presented by the two mainstream parties) are constantly being relegated to a general morass of leftist/liberal.

The fact that there can apparently be no middle ground in the post 9/11 world IMO is sadly demonstrated by the rise of nationalistic populist movements and neo-fascist organisations - not just in the US, but in many European countries as well.

It has not been pointed out - vague references to a personal experience about Fahrenheit 9/11 is not proof

You name several people including Bill Clinton and the guy who responded to Chavez' comments - please prove to me how you consider these people are liberal. I'm not saying they aren't - just curious as to what in your book constitutes a liberal.

Incanada called me a Liberal and told me to re-read my previous posts (as some sort of treasure trove of liberalism).

I asked Infidel in a previous thread to point out people in US politics who he/she considered liberal and why - he couldn't.

Similarly you've thrown out a string of assumptions with no qualifying basis.

If this country is so overrun with liberals, and liberals are destroying this country - you should have no problem finding examples should you?
