DMV letter while waiting for ROC

I just received a letter from DMV asking for my SSN.

My birthday is on January and I will have to renew my license by before my birthday,

but it was weird that DMV was asking for my SSN when they have it on file.

I went to supply them with my SSN as soon as I had one.

Does it have anything to do with having a conditional greencard/SSN card with

annotation (valid for work only with DHS Authorization)?

I have an appointment with DMV today I hope they don't give me a hard time.
