Hi there everyone. The title of the post pretty much states my potential problem. My employer pays me by a company check written by her so there is no check stub involved. I have been making copies of the checks and having my bank acct statment reflect the payment being deposited. Do you think this will be adequate proof of income or do i need my employer to make me out check stubs? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

A payroll check is a company check. Do you not receive a breakdown of the gross wages and taxes withheld from your each pay period? Or are you considered a contractor?

If you are a contractor then no letter or stubs are needed. Only your form 1040 tax return or transcript from the most recent year.

If an employee, a letter stating position, pay rate, and term of service would likely be helpful.

I have done it this way for many years.I posted itemised deductions on the on the check stub and it stayed in the checkbook. If one of my emplyees needed check stubs I would make photo copies with a letter from me stating that this is how I did my payroll.I never had more than 9 people at a time working for me.

An employer is required to give you a pay stub that show the gross wages and the breakdown of the withholdings and the net pay. So the amount of the check does not clearly reflect your income, because it is the net amount, not the gross amount you are earning.

If you are a contractor, and not an employee, that is different and there is not that requirement.
