Let the states decide... states rights.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945.

"Retreat hell! We just got here!"

The greatest flaw in this ammendment is that it uses fertilisation as its defination of personhood.

There have been several articles on this story that have falsely claimed that the morning after pill is threated by this amendment. It's not: the morning after pill prevents ovulation. As irresponsible as this amendment is, it still should not inhibit emergency contraceptive measures like this one, thankfully.

Not sure but I am always up for one. :D

WHY ARE ABORTIONS PERFORMED?

  • On average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion: 3/4 say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; about 3/4 say they cannot afford a child; and 1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner (AGI).

WHO HAS ABORTIONS?

  • In 2007, 84% of all abortions were performed on unmarried women (CDC).

ANNUAL ABORTION STATISTICS

  • In 2008, approximately 1.21 million abortions took place in the U.S.

37% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 28% identify themselves as Catholic (AGI).

That depends. Studies are generally non-conclusive on whether the morning after pill stops an embryo from emplanting in the uterus.

For instance, this site ( http://www.morningafterpill.org/how-does-it-work.html ) still says it can inhibit implantation. So it comes down to how the amendment gets interpreted. I've even seen pro-amendment info sites saying it will ban the morning after pill.

Wonderful. The only ones who will benefit from this amendment are the blood sucking lawyers.

Now there is something new! Attorneys writing laws that benefit attorneys.
