expired passport

I checked old threads related to the subject but didn't see a definite answer for my particular situation. Here goes... my husband has a valid passport (it expires in July)for the upcoming process of sending docs to the NVC (still no case number as recently approved, though surely we'll be set to send paperwork in before Feb), but most likely come interview time his passport will no longer be valid (say an interview from Feb onwards). So can we use his current passport for his paperwork at the NVC (which should still be valid by the time the NVC has our file entered) and then come time for the interview present the renewed passport? I am just wondering if the passports are compared as they won't match come interview time. Also, my husband can't renew his passport before it has less than 6 mo.; therefore, not an option now.

Is your husband the beneficiary?

either way it won't be a problem. He just takes both passports with him to the interview.

Casprd thank you for your reply. My husband is the beneficiary. Some countries keep expired passports (unlike in the US), and his is one of them.
