Hello,

I have been scheduled for my Citizen test 2 times in the last 18 months. (yes ,You read right, I sent My N_400 18 months ago). Both have been cancelled.

The officers in Hialeah center FL. all they say is that "They can't find my A-File".

Has anybody heard of something like this?????

I have written letters to every Authority related to USCIS and no one has ever answered back. (Janet Napolitano, etc etc etc.)

I have hired several Lawyers and none of them have an Idea where to start.

I have read that some one in USCIS can actually create an T-file (as in Temporary) but then again no one nkows nothing.

I guess that my dreams of becoming a US Cit. will not happen.

Ombudsman is completely worthless, all they do is flip on their computer once a month, go to that same USCIS processing website, don't even check it for errors, type that out on a report, and store it on a shelve someplace. Don't even waste your time with them.

Certainly you kept that original document sent to you by the USCIS assigning your alien number. I sure have that for my wife and stepdaughter locked up in a fireproof filing cabinet. Already a ten inch thick folder of everything we received or sent to the USCIS. We had a discussion on burning these files, no way with me.

Ran into this same kind of situation with the VA, but for some strange reason, even as a dumb kid, kept all of my military records, and these are the original ones. Played hell with the VA in trying to get benefits, but at the time said the hell with it. Was told my originals were not valid. But later on, contacted my senators office, guess who has VA benefits now.

If you kept your entire USCIS history, and should be all the originals, just visit your senators office. They don't want stories, want proof. Then you should get some action. Was told our entire I-751 was lost, no problem, have the exact same file I sent, but with all the originals. But somehow with that knowledge, they managed to locate that file, and even accomplished that in less than two hours. When dealing with my senators office.

A-File=Alien File. All of those documents you filed with that personal information in connection with immigration.

Read about it here.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945.

"Retreat hell! We just got here!"

Thank you. How can they loose that file? If that happens, how can they verify the Green Card and other information? They should the record at some place with that information. This is scary to know.

You can sue USCIS for delaying your citizenship. You can contact ACLU or lawyer

here are some links, many people sued the Govt/USCIS in 2008 and got approved.

Writ of mandamus should help - try finding a pro-bono immigration attorney to help with it. Government doesn't like to go to court over this and they should be able to find your missing file. 18 months is way too long of a wait.
