This issue have me all in a knot, I couldn't find the answer on the internet anywhere.

My fiancee is coming over from Vietnam this Dec'11 and we plan on getting married in Jan'12. I live here in California but I don't have any family here in Cali. I hope anyone in Cali that has gone through this and can help me. I have a few questions that I hope the community can help me with.

1. Do I need to have family present for my wedding?

2. Can I obtain a license at the county clerks office here in California and have it be an official wedding?

3. Will it be sufficient for the I-485 Application for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status form to prove to the interviewer that my marriage is legit?

4. And do I need to show that I have a lot of people at my wedding ceremony?

I am afraid that if I don't have close family near by they will not believe the wedding. I only have a mother and a sister as a family. My mom, after her stroke is a rehabilitation hospital and I think I can get my sister but its an abrupt travel for her and she might not be able to afford the plain ticket.

You are posting in the fiance visa section about marrying in the US. Two very different things.

Is your intention for your fiancee to enter the US, marry , and then adjust status?

To marry in the US:

1 - Family isn't needed to marry in the US

2 - You need a license before you have a legal wedding. License = step 1. Wedding = step 2.

3 - A marriage certificate proves that you are legally married. The certificate does not prove a bona fide relationship.

4 - It can be as few as 4 (bride, groom, witness, officiant).
