Ok vj'ers, attempting to get the correct info regarding the booking of flights from philippines to US. Got all kinds of different answers from online web sites, and even the airlines themselves. Several sites have said cant book online, that all tickets for flights originating from the philipines must be purchased from the philipines. Other say you can, but will have to pay the taxes at the airport that you would have paid if booking in the philipines, others say just provide a copy of credit card and id when checking in at manila. Delta whom i want to use tells me its not a problem when using frequently flier miles, while another delta rep tells me, its ok to book online but then need to go to local airport to a delta counter and show them my credit card and id. Is there anyone out there that knows the right answer, because I surely dont lol.

Kevin, the answer is all of the above actually. Some airlines will not allow you to book the flight from the U.S.

In the case where Delta will allow you to book the flight, yeah, you have to go to the airport and show the credit card and ID so they can remove the restriction from her ticket.

Would be a good idea to give her a copy of the credit card just in case she needs it, plenty of Pinays have needed to present a copy of the credit card. That has to do with the nanny Philippine government's attempt to prevent human smuggling of Filipinos.

Lenith will have to pay the taxes on the ticket if you book through a carrier from the U.S.

Hope that helps.

Hi there! As far as i know, you can purchase tickets thru online, originating from Philippines to US. Try to visit expedia.com. You fiance really needs to pay tax such as TRAVEL TAX since she's still a Filipino resident which amounting to Php 1,620 and also Terminal fee for Php 750.... FYI... hope this can help you...

That is true, she'll have to pay the terminal fee and the travel tax. But the taxes for the airfare is different. Not all carriers will allow you to book a flight in the U.S (or any other place) that originates in Philippines.

I'm with you on this confusion. I don't have an answer cuz we're at the same point in the process (well, almost! Ritchie completes her medical on Nov 11 so interview is near and of course have to pass that), but I do have a question to any/all. If I do purchase here, online (i'm thinking Continental cuz I have frequent flyer accounts for my daughter, myself and Ritchie there)if I validate my credit card with them and also send her copy of the same credit card (she already has photo color copies of my passport with her interview docs) should we then have no worries as far as her checking in at NAIA and boarding the plane? I know sending her the cash to purchase the ticket there would supposedly get us arround this possible issue, and I still may end up doing that but using my credit card would be so much more convienienient and actually more economical at this point because of the time of year and cash flow contraints right now.

Just like OP. would love to get some level of comfort in knowing which way will most assuredly get her through check-in and boarded on the plane without hassle and potential missing of her flight, as obviously that happening would not only be more expensive but a nightmare for her who has never experienced air travel/airports, let alone international travel, added to her already (probably) anxious feelings about such a journey anyway? Wow - I would really like to avoid putting her through that!

Thanks in advance! (And thanks to OP for opening topic!)
