LOL Dog. Thats a weird question that I don't know the answer for.

Since Mav aint here.

I can tell you I think every relationship is up to the parties involved. Not everyone is the same and things are different for everybody. Personality, Attitude, AND SO ON. I guess it's what you make of it. Takes 2 to make it work, not just one. Children being involed is a blessing but may be dismay if the relationship is shacky and doubts about WHY?

The Majority are happy. but, I see as yourself not a good choice for some. So, Be Happy. And make her happy. Thats the best start when they arrive to an odd surrounding.

Just a guess. Your post is a Good One!

Well I have been here over 12months now and married the same and it is working well. I wont lie to you and tell you I am not missing my daughters as I do every day but I chose to have my life here with my husband and I am happy.

He is away at the moment with his job and it is a long stint away 6 weeks. I have 2 left to go and I hate it. I miss him every day it is just like being back home again when I was waiting for my visa . I have no one here no family no friends and it is lonely. I have joined some volunteer work but that wont happen for a few weeks yet so right now I don't feel so good. Especially it being the weekend and we are both apart he sitting in a hotel room and me alone in our home. It just sucks, but I know in 2 weeks life will be better again and he will be home and we can't wait for that. Life here in the US is similar to OZ but different but bearable. I have a car and I drive good now around the place and have learnt where everything is here in Augusta.

I love my Hubbie very much and we love our life together also.

I hope you find happiness as well.

I think ops question was more toward the couples from Philippines since Philippines has it's own world, and pin ays adapt a little bit harder to the American life style

Nothing is wrong, I am not having second thoughts and I have a wonderful classy lady that is soon to be my wife. It's just that the only ones that tend to post are the ones that have horror stories to tell. I guess we are about a week or so out from flying. I just wanted to hear some positive stories from some of you.

Guess i just got a bit of the nerves. :star: My single years have been a blast. but I am glad to give them up for this special lady.

Those that got a horror story already had a premonition. They just ignored the big signs wen't on and hopefully it will pass but they were wrong.

Me and my husband have known with each other for 7 yrs. and been married for 4 years and we have a 2 yr old son. My first year here in the US was a lot of adjustments there were ups and downs and kinda hard to admit but I was being impossible and used to have bad temper. I remember on the first couple of months of our marriage my husband told me "if I just don't love you I'm going to return you to your parents...LOL". We are happily married and very thankful to my husband for standing by me through all these years. (L):)

Youre Timeline Indicates: She is soon to be with you.

I can tell you never trust or take advice which is negative towards your future wife and/or spouse. I can also tell you since my relationship with Mav I have turned my back on friends for Negative Statements and have also encountered sarcastic remarks from some family members. IGNORE ALL THIS! Its your Life.

In the end. You have a New Life and GO FOR IT.

If your Nervous as I would imagine. I have no advice because I would be too.

Lucky Guy............. Is the way I look at it.

I disagree. I think in many ways it's easier on non-english speakers because it's ALL different. Here things are similar to Aus but different enough that it's very frustrating. I don't expect to be misunderstood. I hate being told I'm wrong because the word I've used for something for 28 years is different here.

I also read about "Pinay support groups" in many areas. Pinay TV channels, food etc. I have to ship stuff, there's no store nearby. Any food similar to home isn't the same and it's usually not a good difference. There are NO other Aussie's in my area. No support group. No Aussie channels. Vonage has cheap deal for the Philippines, Australia not so much because it's not as common so I would be paying quite a lot a month just to talk to my family on a regular basis.

It's also better living conditions in many way for Filipino's. Not as good for Aussie's. Worse healthcare here compared to Aus.

Just because I speak English doesn't mean this has been easy. I've been here 2 years and it's still often a daily struggle.

Unlike most Asian countries, all Filipinos are taught english in grade school. Although some may not speak it and understand it perfectly, most know enough english to communicate here in the US. Most signage and many newspapers in the Philippines are in English too.

Hi Scruffydog,

My wife Jena & I met online in 2005. I visited her one year later in 2006 and she arrived in the US in July 2007. She adjusted very easily to life in the US with the help of my family and friends. She took a couple classes at our local Jr. College and then looked for work. She's been at the same job for two years now. Next year she will work on getting her US citizenship.

This spring we traveled back to Phils for the first time. Shortly after we got home, we found out she was pregnant with our first child. We love each other very much and I think we have a great marriage. Despite our 20 yr. gap and cultural differences we think we're a perfect match!

Good luck in your marriage!

Kev & Jena

In some ways I agree with you however I reckon I would have less difficulties being here if it wasn't for the language. All those small things bug the living daylight outta me.

Of course it's easy for me to say. I do understand your struggle. Especially health care is a big camel for me to swallow and having to accept that the chance of running into a Dane is close to zero unless I went to the airport and randomly reported my imaginary friend, mrs. Nielsen, missing through the speakers(not that I'm that desperate to talk to a Danish person) but Danish is the core of me. It IS adjusting for everybody moving here.

Sometimes when the living conditions improve it is easier to adjust to the rest(hence the healthcare or lack of depending on where you're from). I felt and somewhat still feel limited in choices. My experience is preparing for your SO to arrive and you adjusting to it may help to improve the situation. Your SO doesn't know the procedures of anything here and even though she might be a fast learner, having to reset your life like that is tough.

Anyways, we were together for 1½ years before I moved here. If it hadn't been for my husband I would never have considered leaving my home country on these terms.
