Hi everybody,

Elena came over on a K-1 on September 3, we were married September 28. We are filling out the adjustment of status paperwork, but I am confused about the 1-693. When she had her medical examination in Russia last August she completed all of her vaccinations. She doesn't have a DS3025, she has a certificate from the International Organization for Migration that indicates that she has all necessary vaccinations for the U.S. She also has a "certificate of prophylactic vaccinations" from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation that lists her vaccination history translated into English. The doctor who conducted her medical examination in Russia told Elena that these documents would be enough for the adjustment of status. Can we just send copies of this stuff, or do we need to take the documents to a civil surgeon and have the civil surgeon review them for the vaccination supplement form? She doesn't need any vaccinations...seems like a waste of time and money to go to the civil surgeon. What do you folks think?

I do not think it will work.

Why?

The I-693 and DS3025 are official US government forms, the others are not. I believe you will get an RFE for an I-693

what are your options?

First, call around and talk to Civil Surgeons in your area (google "Civil Surgeons[name of state]") ask them what they charge to fill out the vaccination form and tell them you have the forms you mention. Get their prices and availability. You DO NOT need another medical exam but some may say "it is required" It IS NOT. They just want more money. Say "Thank you, goodbye" and call the next one.

When you get that information you have another choice...

1. File now with COPIES of the forms you have and see if you get an RFE. If you do, go to the cheapest, fastest civil surgeon and get the form done and send it in. You take the chance of delaying your green card a bit but saving the amount of money you will pay if they accept your forms (I doubt it)

2. Go to the cheapest civil surgeon, get the I-693 filled out and send it with the AOS.

For others...INSIST on the DS3025 at the medical exam in Moscow. make sure it is filled out and the "vaccinations complete" box checked (if vaccinations are complete)

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

Call around and find a CS that will do just a transcription of the vaccination records.....as Gary and Alla have described. Worst would be to do the entire exam all over here. Since you don't have the 3025 you are stuck. Just do it and all will be OK> You understood early on that this immigration stuff would be costly and here is just another example. Just do it and all will be well.

The medical examination records were in the sealed envelope that she gave in at POE. Does she have the receipt from IOM? There are 2 things that can be used as a proof of the medical: DS-3025 or the receipt from IOM. They both have the date on it.
