I am also planning on going back in late January 2012. Since there is always another layover in Detroit, New York, Washington... and I am aware of potential heavy snow during this time of year. For this reason, I might fly from Orlando to LAX or some other California layover to avoid the problems up North. I will wait till December before I book.

My checklist for my long flight includes a 750 page software development book. If that doesn't put me to sleep then it's two Tylenol PM's and a beer (recommended by another frequent traveler I met last time.) That flight is really, really long.

I have heard that the third week of January is crowded due to holidays which is why I am probably moving it till the last week of January.

Works for me, used that one on a long flight to Hong Kong from L.A.

i guess it would be the leg of the flight from seattle to korea that is booked. I have seen this the last 3 years allways problem getting tickets at the last min around jan.

But i fly only asiana airlines great service and got to love those air miles :) just got back from phil. on a free ticket (ok not really free u still have to pay 430 dollars just in taxes and airport fees) lol.

:ot: Unless you have a lot of money, it is not suggested to accompany your fiancee for her interview and hope that the visa will be at hand within 3 weeks and take your partner with you when you fly back home.

Some get the visa in 3 days, 1 week/s and even put to AP for an uncertain period of time.

Your comment is NOT off topic at all. You are correct on all points, and good reminder for folks taking a "little bit too much for granted" that they can predict the outcome and timeline of getting Visa and CFO stamp in hand.

Besides, the USCIS warns NOT to make travel plans B4 visa is delivered.

Cheers!

I disagree u do not have to have lots of money, for one it is the philippines u can live alot cheaper there than u can here in the states unless of coarse u want to play the role of the rich forigner. Also it is winter here in the united states so great time to go visit and spend time with ur soon to be wife, in hot weather than sitting here in the u s and waiting and waiting in 6 feet of snow.

Go for it im headed back in a few weeks even i just got back oct 14th as i have said the only neg. is the long flight.

I have planned a trip between Nao1 and Nao2. I figure the more evidence for the interview the better. Since my paperwork is in Vermont I figure I will have plenty of time for the second trip and maybe even enough time for a third trip.

The only thing I hate about the trip is the 15.5 hour flight from Chicago to Hong Kong. the short hop from buffalo to chicago is a breeze as is the ferry ride from HKIA to Shekou port in Shenzhen.

Enjoy your trip and take plenty of pictures with her family and friends.

My point is just the uncertainty of the interview results. If your mind is already set for a certain amount for a certain amount of time that your wife to be i going to flying to the Philippines without the visa at hand is a risk. "Lots of money" of money depends on your view and economic status. If you are Manny Pacquaio, what's $3000 for a month right? (if it's just a month and what my fiance spent when he was here)

She lives in Taguig City which is close to Makati City, so I will get a hotel in Makati City. I hope to stay 3 weeks this time whereas last time I could only stay 2 weeks. I was last there in August of 2011. For me, the flight is even longer since I fly from Atlanta to Japan which is 13 hours. I'm thinking of going a different route this time just to make the longest flight a bit shorter. Also, I didn't have any sleeping medication last time I flew either. I thought I would have no trouble sleeping, but I was so wrong.

Same city as well.... too funny! :) Amy lives in Taguig City, works in Makati. I was there for a month in July, dodged two typhoons.

13 hours to Japan and then to Manila isn't too bad. I fly to Honolulu then to Manila. The lay overs are killers waiting for the next flight.

I intend to visit my fiancee in the Philippines in late January/ early February if my fiancee isn't already here by then. Our NOA2 is expected in January/February so it would appear very unlikely she could be here in America by then. There's no problem with the USC going to visit the beneficiary before petition is approved is there? It would seem as if it would be recommended since the more evidence you have of meeting in person, the easier your interview at the embassy would be.

I went two days after our noa2 was approved no problems have a nice trip:)
