WHAT EXACTLY THE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO GET A MEDICAL CHECK UP AT ST. LUKES

Since Chinook had to travel from Bacolod to Manila, we scheduled her interview first so that she could complete the medical and the interview the same week.

For those who live in or near Manila, why not get the medical out of the way as soon as possible? It can be helpful to start the medical early because you just might have to wait for that eight-week TB culture. :(

Without having to look it up, how long is the medical valid? Once I can get the MNL # we plan to complete everything that is possible.

The medical is generally valid for six months.

Some people complete their medical exam as soon as they have their MNL case number. One reason they do so is because they want to get a head start on the potential eight-week sputum culture that results from any irregularities found on their required chest x-ray.

On the other hand, for some people there can be a disadvantage to completing the medical early. When the Embassy issues the visa, the validity of the visa is tied to the date the medical was completed. For a person who completed their medical two months before their visa was issued, the validity of their visa will be four months instead of closer to the normal six months. That gives the person less time to use their visa.

Ah... that makes sense. No issue with not having 6 months for sure... Once the MNL # is known Amy can get wild 'n' crazy with the medical then.

Thanks

Yeah...I know what you mean...Chinook and I had no issue with the visa validity. She used it as soon as she possibly could...as most people do.

However, once in a while things happen to where the beneficiary can't travel before the visa expires. In those cases, the Embassy will routinely, upon request, grant a four-month extension. VJ member Southcalhog went this route.

a new visa can be issued, but it costs another $350.

What if the fiancé(e) must delay their arrival in the U.S.?

The K-1 visa is valid for a maximum of six months. If the visa bearer is unable to leave for the United States immediately and the visa expires, a new one may be issued upon written request to the Embassy and the payment of another application fee of U.S. $350.

Well just for some added info, we still have not received the packet from the embassy, and we have already completed medical and the interview. So go get your medical done and schedule ur interview, and prepare the docs required.

hello Vj friends!!

Kevin&Lenith I just want to ask how much did you paid in Philippine currency at St. Luke Medical Center at the time of your medical exam?

Your help is appreciated. :)
