Hi guys - I finally got an interview date!!!!! yay!!! December 13th. But here is my problem. My husband and I got engaged on Christmas Day and its a very special day for us - I am wanting to book a flight to Boston so i make it in time for Christmas - How long does it take to actually receive the visa? I read it takes 1 - 3 days - have most of you received it within that timeframe? I just worry because of Christmas being a busy time etc

I sent email to the consulate here in Jakarta asking about that also, and they said it takes 3-5 days. I think it depends on the consulate smile.gif Anyways, Best of luck for the interviewsmile.gifsmile.gif

when you have your interview they will ask you when you're intending to travel so just make sure you tell them that. if you want to book your flights before you get your visa in hand then i would just make sure that they are changeable just to be on the safe side. if they have everything that they need from you though then i don't see why you wouldn't be able to get it in time for christmas :)

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

We sent packet 3 in , i think around the 20th of October - our case was completed on the 29th and we got the interview on the 4th of November - We used a lawyer in the US because our case was a little tricky, so instead of filing direct with Sydney, it wenth through the NVC who then sent it to Sydney, which is why it took a little longer than usual.

Also, anyone who has already had an interview - where did you read about having to bring evidence of the relationship? I was sent an from the NVC with a interview date and a list of things to bring such in case they werent already submitted (which they were) but nothing about bringing along any evidence of our relationship?

It was on the list of things to bring... from memory. You should take relationship evidence because it's always better to have than not have.

I received an email from the NVC with my interview date and a list of documents to bring if they hadnt already been submitted. The email said that I had submitted all of mine, so Im guessing I just bring my passport, express envelope, my medical results and any evidence I have. I don't get my papers back do I? they go straight to the embassy - hence already having all the documents submitted?

You'll get any originals back but not other stuff no.

It's a good idea to ask at the consulate for a copy of your entire medical when you have your interview, if your doctor didn't give you a copy already. It will come in handy if you have to go through a civil surgeon in the US, and also just in case USCIS lose your medical. Also don't forget to bring a copy of your interview letter as you'll need that at the interview.
