Hey guys!

I'm just a little confused about this process. I had my interview on Nov 1st and was told that the passport will be sent to me with the printed visa within 3 business days. Well I'm not holding my breath for it to be sent out today or even Monday for that matter, but I'm a little concerned after reading different answers on VJ. I've been checking the CSC website at least once a day to make sure that the waybill number hasn't popped up yet, I'm assuming that the waybill number will be right on the summary page! Once I have that number, I'll head over to dhl.ca and try to track it down? Is this the best way to do it! I have read some where that in some cases the passport arrived at the DDL location you choose before there way a waybill number on CSC summary page. I called DHL (loomis express) and I was told that they don't get any updates from the Embassy, once the passport has been provided to DHL, a waybill number will pop up on CSC's website and then you can track it on Dhl.com using that number. I asked if there was a way to pull up my account using the reference number that I gave them when I sent packet 3, she couldn't pull up my account. What was the significance of that reference number if they can't pull me up baed on that! When I asked her why, she said because we can only search our system based on waybill numbers. Something just doesn't add up. delivery

Here's the key question that I have: When Montreal hands over the passports to these folks at DHL, they will populate the WAYBILL field in their system which will consequently reflect on CSC website (our summary page which has applicant's passport number and MRV receipt number). Then we can use that waybill number to track the passport! What are your thoughts on this? Those who have recently gone through this, please clarify...thanks in advance!

More than anything else with Montreal, this seems to go differently for everyone.

-Mine never appeared on the site, but I did get an email with the waybill.

-Others never got the email, but the waybill appeared on the site.

-For others, neither the email or the waybill was received but they got a call from DHL.

-In some really rare cases they never got the email, the waybill or the call and just stopped by their DHL location and it was there.

So, I think in THEORY you're supposed to get the waybill via the site and the email and then the call when it's at your location... it just seems some steps get skipped for some people. Nothing you can really do except wait. DOS can tell you if it's been printed but not if it's been shipped and really, there's no way to find out the status if you don't get the email/CSC site update without going to your DHL location and asking if there's a package for you.

Silly, really :( Good luck!

The CSC website is really slow at updating waybill numbers and for some VJers the waybill number doesn't show up at all. However, DHL will call you when your passport is ready for pickup- that's usually how most people find out. I received an e-mail from DHL about 3 hours before they called me that had my waybill, which is another way to find out. I think a whole day later the waybill number appeared on the CSC website briefly only to vanish again...

Also, 3 business days, while some people do get their passports back that quickly, is certainly very speedy for Montreal- some people wait much longer! Montreal is slow like that. There's a big thread about waiting for your passport from Montreal, lemme see if I can find it...

Edit: here it is http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/302129-waiting-for-our-passports-from-montreal/ There's a poll showing when people received their passports.

Nobody ever contacted me. I saw the waybill number on the website and went to the DHL website to track it. It was there, but nobody had called or emailed about it.

Thank you for this valuable information! Quick question, who sent you that email with the WAYBILL information, was it the Montreal consulate or CSC folks? The lady at DHL refused to take my contact info because she said that I'd have to continue tracking it online, and they don't call/email people? As you've mentioned above, others have gotten emails followed a phone call from DHL informing them about the package at their location. How could she me so freaking incompetent

I had my interview in Montreal on September 28th of this year. From my own experience, I did receive an email with the waybill number in the message, which I got on September 30th. Here's the email I received (I've deleted my name, pickup address and waybill number):

Dear Mr. XXXXX,

Your passport has been picked up from the Consular Section and within the next few days you will be able to pick it up at:

DHL Your Town HOLD FOR PICKUP

123 Any Street

Your Town, Your Province

Your Waybill Number is XXXXXXXXXXXX.

Please click the link below to track your passport until it is ready for pickup:

http://www.dhl.ca/ca/wfTrackingStatus.aspx?PieceNumber=XXXXXXXXXXXXX

You can take advantage of having your documents delivered to an address in Canada for an additional cost. If you are interested, go here to learn how:

As well, when I went on the CSC site, the waybill number was also there. Once I had this number, I simply was able to track it on dhl.ca and once it showed it was delivered to the location I chose, I simply went and picked it up. Whether or not it does it for everyone I'm not sure. I personally had no issues.

Wow, looks like you also got an email followed by a phone call! Can you please tell me how do I set that up! They can't even pull up my account, how are they going to tie it all together, unless of course the packet, when it arrives would have my contact info (Name, email, Phone) and they just read it off that and make that phone call. Can you try to remember if the packet you picked up from DHL had all that info on it? thanks

Yeah, that's what the folks above are saying...some do but some don't! When you finally picked up the packet, did you check to see if it was sent out a while ago. In other words was there a way for you to see if it just sat there at the DHL location for a while until the Waybill number popped up in that stupid CSC website?

Thanks for sharing this, I guess you were one of the lucky ones. This email that you posted above was from CSC and not the Montreal embassy, correct?

Not that I know of. I think it had gotten there recently (maybe even that morning) but I can't remember. The waybill number showed up fairly quickly, if I recall. I had my interview on a Monday and it showed up on the Friday when I picked it up.

I just had my interview on October 19th. After about a week of waiting and not seeing anything on the CSC website regarding a waybill number, I emailed Montreal for an update on when I can expect to receive the passport back.

The very next day, I got a reply from Montreal saying the passport was being sent out with DHL that afternoon. A few hours later I got an email from CSC and Loomis Express letting me know that the package had been sent and they provided me with a waybill number.

The CSC website didn't update the waybill number and status of documents until hours after I got the emails. I found that tracking the package on DHL was much more effective than waiting for CSC to update.

Also, DHL tracking told me that the package was ready for pickup before I got an email or phone call from them. I was there at 9 am to pick it up the next day.
