there are two courses of action to be taken. Do what it takes to keep Iran from developing them OR create a plan to rush in and protect the weapons when the government collapses.

The UK and Europe couldn't "hit the Germans" first. The phrase "arms race" was basically coined to describe Europe from 1935 to 1939, when none of the Allied European nations were in much of a condition to fight their way out of a paper bag. As it was, 1939 was too soon, Great Britain's one advantage being that the German's hadn't given much thought to how they were going to invade the British Isles and were hopelessly unequipped to do so.

Yes, right on. Iran has enough for both and they do not have refineries. Even better. They not only need to sell oil to pay for bullets, they need to sell oil to be refined into gas and fuel for their war and sold back to them...with money they get from selling more oil.

So in my view Hitler waltzing into the Rhineland was not a breaking point for action, though his rearmament of the country perhaps was but as earlier pointed out, the Rest of Europe was hardly repaired or in the mood for any confrontation (has anything changed?)

In fact, Great briton hastily threw out a threat of war if Poland were invaded "IT WOULD MEAN WAR!

YEt when Hitler rolled in what action did Great briton take in defense of Poland ?... ZIP.

Of course one wonders if they would have fought the Russians too as they invaded Poland from the East...... but no, instead they made them allies.

Back to Iran, they say we are always preparing to fight the last war.

And maybe we are in this case.

NEWS FLASH: THe new-clear jennie is out of the bottle, any country who can afford such a program will eventually have the BOMB, thankfully we are geographically located in such a p[lace where delivery of such a weapon is out of reach for most of these countries... for now.

Even countries we think are stable now, are just one political upheaval away from becoming a grave danger. (Pakistan comes to mind.)

Clearly Israel is in danger from Iran, in fact the fallout from a successful Iranian program will be a need for every other neighbor to defend its self in like manor.

We kid ourselves if we think we will not see an actual nuclear attack somewhere, sometime in the next few decades, the only hope against it is some type of Technology which prevents it.

Preventing this should have been our "To the moon" calling since Reagan.

We will do what we have alway done, provide military equipment and support to Isreal. If the U.N. (which should be abolished anyway) were to sanction Isreal, we'd veto it as a lifetime voting member and life would go on as usual.

There will be no ramifications against Isreal, nor will it escalate beyond a limited conflict.

Even Obama (who is no fan of Isreal) will support their actions if Isreal attacks Iran and their nuculear facilities.
