I-129F Application Returned - Incorrect Fee?

Hi everybody,

Ok. First, I submitted my I-129F package September 6, and waited for three weeks. I did not receive a NOA, and the check I submitted was not cashed either.

I called and USCIS advised me to wait 30 days. So I waited, but upon calling them in October, they said I submitted an incorrect fee for the I-129F, and they mailed back the package on September 20. I told them this was strange because I made a check out for the amount of $340.00, and everything was correct on the check.

Moreover, I have not received my package since USCIS mailed it back on September 20. It is now November 4. USCIS advised me to e-mail the Texas lockbox center; I have, but have received no reply.

What could have gone wrong with the check I submitted? Should I submit a new package?

Wait till it gets back and see what is wrong, if you have a copy of what you sent you can double check it in the mean time against the K1 guides and uscis site. Sometimes they can make a mistake.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Thank you for replying.

I am sure the I-129F fee is $340.00. When I looked at their filing instructions for checks this morning, I noticed that I did everything correctly. I am completely baffled why USCIS would deny the application, and I have not even received my package back yet. This process has been very frustrating thus far, and I am very disappointed.

The correct fee is $340.00 according to the USCIS web-site. A lot of people make a mistake and send $350 which is a fee that is paid in the consulate for Visa processing.

Hi bigdog,

How long does it usually take for a package from Texas to be mailed to Florida? It has been well over 30 days, and I would think even by snail mail standards I should have received it.

To whom you made your check?

I made the check to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

I know it is a dumb question, but I hope you didn't post dated it.

This quietly strange to me. It is certain amount check and written on clearly. Then why rejected because of that if it's the correct one? If they did mistake for certain documents it's more understable. But the check?wacko.gifand told you that have submitted wrong fee?huh.gif

That is a good question actually, and no, I did not postdate it.

The thing is, I want to wait to get my original package before sending out a new one, since the former has our plane tickets as proof of meeting in person. But it is taking too long.

You don't copied and kept original ones? Hmmmm...Most people give suggestion that we don't need to send the original ones for example like tickets, itinery, or receipts, and billing statement of hotel, etc..etc..etc.unsure.gif. Also make 2 copies for each document.

That is true. Do you think I will eventually receive the package I originally submitted?

I think you can get it. If they use USPS - I had problem with them when sent my gifts that I bought online to my fiancecrying.gif- you should be okay if they told you that have already sent it back. Just let us know if you finally get back your package.

For checks to be paid by the banks, the amount you write in numbers is not what matters but what you write in letters (below the 'pay to the order of'). If the numbers are correct but the amount written is not, it will be considered incorrect. I know because I have done it. What matters is what you write in words not in numbers.

Perhaps that is what the problem is. You might be able to check that in the duplicate of the check in your check book.

Hope this helps
