I would read the VJ guides, http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2. Also read the USCIS site and compare. Information here is accurate and if you follow the steps and are thorough you should not have any problems filing. File for Social Security card in two week after arriving. Have fun.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Just so the OP is clear, they don't HAVE to apply for SSN two weeks after. They can if they choose, or they can wait until after AOS to get it in the married name.

Yeah thank you for clarifying that but I should have said having SSN early in the process is beneficial. It's not hard to change the name after AOS is done either. Some health insurance companies ask for and it is needed to get a State ID (According to Group A and Group C ID required docs).

With the caveat that a number cannot be applied for if you to the SS office within 14 days before the I94 expires. SS can only issue a number in the first 76 days after entry. If you fail to go before the 76th day, you will HAVE to wait until you have the green card.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

My Wife arrived in US on a K1. Her Visa and passport both have expired. Is this going to be a problem to do our AOS? also, she did not get a social security card when she arrived. I was unaware of being able to do that. We will need to wait until after our AOS now.
