Congrats to the ones that already got their greencard!

It seems more and more get approved but I'm getting a little bit frustrated. I got my NOA1 on 11/18/11 and they transferred my case to CSC on 12/12/11. It seems the people who filed later and have an interview get approved way earlier. I think it's kinda frustrating..

AOS based on K1:

11.10.11 wedding

16.11.11 filed for AOS

18.11.11 NOA1

12.12.11 case transferred to CSC

17.01.12 I131 got approved

20.01.12 biometrics

20.01.12 EAD/AP combo card in production

28.01.12 received EAD/AP in mail

11.05.12 GC approved

Yes, frustrating indeed... Today is the 4-month anniversary of my filing, should I celebrate? Lol. Transferred to CSC, silence from then on...

K-1 AOS persons are waiting longer than regular married AOS, IMHO there is no such thing "transfer to CSC for faster processing." Be patient and God be with you. Good luck.

Can we call USCIS when it has been over four months and ask for an update? Or do we need to schedule an info pass appt? I think if they surpass the average time (in the case of a I-485 adjusting for work purposes or from a K1, it's 4 months) then you can put a call in....

Maybe you should celebrate.lol

I don't know when we can call. Is it 4 months after the NOA1 or 4 months after the case got transferred? Plus they don't count weekends and holidays, right? That would give them even more time.

I called a couple of weeks ago and was told I could inquire about my case 180 days after it was transferred.... I guess it's pretty fair to say we were transferred for slower processing.

Oh wow, I guess we'll have to wait a little longer then.. I'm so glad when this is over. Today a girl I know got approved after an interview and she filed in January.. I'm happy for her but at the same time I'm so frustrated.

My wife is still waiting to get her green card, but she's making good use of her EAD. Bored silly after 6 months of not working, she took an assembly job a Filipina friend was able to help her line up. Now she's college degreed, used to working in financial matters, she even ran a loan business she owns with her sister back home. Well two weeks after getting the assembly job, she's been offered a job with one of the larger banks in the USA. Its pretty much a lower level job, but its a lot closer to what she wants to be doing than the assembly work was doing. She has to start somewhere to prove herself and get some experience and business references in this country. I'm so proud of her. Watching her go out and get what she wants here, even with her fears of not being accepted, or worry over not speaking the language well enough. Yet she faces those fears down and takes this strange new world head on.

Good luck to all those in getting their green cards and getting the career you hope for in the USA. Don't get discouraged or give up because the economy is tough. Its all a numbers game. Keep applying enough and you'll get your chance.

Congrats to everyone who's done with the process! Mine is going a lot more slowly than anticipated :( We got an RFE for a tax return as expected, but since this is my husband's first year filing a return (he just graduated from college a year ago) we called and asked what to do. The agent said that if we sent in his employment letter, pay stubs, W2, 401k and bank statements we should be fine as that proves income. We went ahead and did that again and attached another note saying he has never filed a return and only been a dependent, only to receive another RFE stating we MUST send in a return or we were going to be denied. Nevertheless, he did his taxes that weekend and sent them in, and I just got notice today that my EAD was approved and in production. PHEW! Slowly but surely getting there!

Oh, and question for CA people - I have to get an SSN to get a driver's license or a state ID, right? So I have to apply for one after I receive my EAD and only after I get my SSN can I go to the DMV? Just want to make sure I'm doing things right.

It really stinks. I have a poor friend who filed in September who was transferred who still hasn't heard a thing, and I know there are a handful of October folks in the same boat. I think they were both transferred in December like me, but it frustrates me on behalf of everyone who puts in the time, effort and money (not to mention the emotional torment of the early part of the process when we all had to be apart from our loved ones :( I feel anxious just thinking about those days) to do things the legal way and now we're all sitting on our thumbs. Kind of makes me feel like a sucker for following the rules. That said, I can see the benefits in my relationship and the strength that came from bearing all of that together and am thankful we didn't just jump in with both feet back in 2009 from that standpoint. Heart-wrenchingly painful, but I can see how it has been used for the betterment of our foundation, healing, knowledge of how to love and trust one another fully and our plans for the future.(L)

USCIS still sucks, though.

Oh, and question for CA people - I have to get an SSN to get a driver's license or a state ID, right? So I have to apply for one after I receive my EAD and only after I get my SSN can I go to the DMV? Just want to make sure I'm doing things right.

I'm not a CA person but I have a friend who is and I'm fairly sure she needed an SSN for both, yes. :) I'll let others chime in to be sure, though.

the wait is killing me... frustrating!!! i bought round trip tickets for myself (manila-USA) and a one-way ticket for my son a couple of weeks ago... and since i didn't apply for AP when i filed my AOS (thinking that the gc approval won't take this looooong), i applied for the travel document (I-131) on march 16th, NOA dated march 19th.. my heart skipped a beat when i got an email notification from USCIS last monday (march 26th) and this is what it said :

On March 26, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT.

:dance::bonk:

i thought it was an approved GC! but still, i'm glad i don't have to worry about leaving the US on may, just in case i won't receive my green card by then. well, that would really suck, big time. :bonk:
