Earlier tonight I received an email that my EAD approval notice was sent (I think this means that the actual card has shipped, based on what I have read on other posts) I wonder how many emails one gets after they approve the i-485 (which I hope they do on Tuesday!!) For the record, I have thus far received three emails from USCIS regarding my EAD card production (two) and notice sent (one). See my signature below for the dates!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting - I am sure that your'll soon receive wonderful news!

Same here!

For those that applied for and received a Combo EAD/AP card, did you receive an e-notification of card production for both EAD and AP, or just EAD?

I just received a card production update on my EAD, but not AP.

Most likely its gonna be a combo card. My AP didn't say anything about Card Production.

Last night we got text/email notification:

Post Decision Activity- On January 13, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any instructions on the notice.

I assume this means they mailed his EAD card! So happy to have things moving right along.

Question for the group: My husband does not have a SSN, will he be assigned one when he gets his EAD card? Or will we have to apply for one? Can we apply for one before the EAD arrives? I assume he won't be able to start a job without a SSN. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Did your spouse earn income? You can file a joint return with both of your names and SSNs, and list only your spouse's income on it. This way you will also benefit from the extra exemption, deduction, and better tax rates.

Nope as I said, you pay nothing extra. You will in fact benefit from a better tax bracket and extra exemptions/deductions, as long as you are listed on the return. Which is something you should do anyhow to develop evidence for your interview. Enjoy the larger tax refund. :)

Only if the work was performed after receiving the EAD or GC, whichever comes earlier. Or, if the worker was on an H-1B/L-1 which does not apply here.

I should add that I am not a tax expert and am not qualified to provide tax advice. ;) I MAY very well be wrong and everything I have listed above is solely based on my own knowledge and experiences.
