My hubs did his biometrics today (walk in - he was originally scheduled for 12/14). I wouldn't have known you could try for walk on until I read about it on here, so I told him to go ahead and try (he doesn't have anything else to do during the day, so he could take the risk of losing a day to go over and try). Good news is they let him do it today! They gave him a hard time about it at first and said that you had to have an appointment and could not do a walk in and asked if there was some emergency...he said NO I just want to work! They said, well this won't speed up the process. So he kept pleading with them and said "but I came all the way over here.." so finally the lady was like "we will make an exception" and let him.

I wonder if the USCIS offices are going to get wind of all the people saying to do walk ins and crack down on it. Why wouldn't go you go early? Even if they say it doesn't speed things up, it has to, right?

I checked USCIS website today and I was surprised that this happened...

On November 28, 2011, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to another office for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action.

My biometrics is scheduled next week. NOA1 said they forwarded my case to National Benefits Center. I know they either transferred my case to CSC or local office but before biometrics? I'm expecting to receive the hard copy mail explaining this transfer since it happened yesterday.

I think biometrics will just be added to your e-file. When I went they had it all there just by scanning the bar code.

My hubs did his biometrics today (walk in - he was originally scheduled for 12/14). I wouldn't have known you could try for walk on until I read about it on here, so I told him to go ahead and try (he doesn't have anything else to do during the day, so he could take the risk of losing a day to go over and try). Cool!! I don't really know if it gets expedited or not, I'm just glad we got it out of the way, and heck... maybe it does help!

Manu completed his Biometrics yesterday. His appointment was as 12:00pm, we arrived at 11:55am and were done by 12:15! Super easy.

Has anyone else done their biometrics, on the appointment day originally given, and received any other letters or next steps yet? Since we're not sure if doing a walk in really speeds up your timeline, I'm curious to hear from those who had scheduled appointments completed already.

Good Luck Everyone!

I just did my Biometrics early. Received my appointment notice on Monday, read on here that Wednesdays are good for walk ins at the Elizabeth NJ office so I tried, gave my reason why and the manager signed and changed the date to today.

The office was VERY empty so I think it would not make sense to turn me away.

The MISINFOMATION LINE said they no longer accept walk ins at any of the locations but I don't see why they wouldnt on a slow day AND going in early means you open up a slot later on for someone else so I don't think they would take the authority away from the manager.....

I don't know if it speeds it up but at least I dont have to wait 3 more weeks to have to go down there.. ;)

I'm started to get worried because we received out NOA's on the 18th but still no sign of the biometrics letter :( Also, I checked online and the closest center is 2.5 hrs away... we'll be home next month for Christmas - is it possible to change the appointment location assuming we get assigned the one 2.5 hrs away? There's a center about 15 minutes away from my parents' house so it would be sooo much easier to do it then.
