First, you are a Dem but you definitely do not prefer Cain so I question that whole logic. I say vote for the guy the Dems attack the most.

Moot point though given the current situation which is very simple...

IF the economy does not improve noticeably and tangibly before next November, Obama will lose. Period. Repubs can nominate a can of creamed corn and he will lose to the can of creamed corn.

IF the economy improves substantially and tangibly before next November, Obama will be re-elected. To try to imagine there is anything else to this is silly. No other issues mean anything. Abortion, immigration, none mean anything in the long run and there is no reason they should. even sexual harrassment is passe thanks to Bill Clinton. I always womnder why women would even support that guy? He abused women over and over, made them sexual objects to serve him on thier knees, literally, and then destroyed the whole sexual harrassment thing for anyone in the future. But I digress.

Many here were too young to remember Bill Clinton saying "It's the economy, Stupid!" that allowed an unknown Governor from the state with nearly the worst economy in the nation to beat George HW Bush in 1992 when Bush had a 91% approval rating the summer before the election.

2012 will be a repeat of 1991 and 1980 UNLESS the government does something that makes a substantial change, improvement, in the economy. The only way Obama can do that is to abandon his party and beliefs because none of the things he is proposing will work. He won't do that, the economy will continue to sputter and chug along and he will be TOS'ed by whoever the Repubs nominate...who ever!
