Hi,

A good friend of ours is writing a letter stating the he knows us well and spends time with us on regular basis. He put his address, phone #, a-mail and DOB but he said that he would not put his SSN. Is this a problem? The letter is not notarized. Thanks.

The K1 precess took us 9 long months.

Nobody would put their SSN on any such document.

Personally does not matter how good a friend I am with, I would not give out my SSN number to anyone other than my wife or maybe my immediate family.

If you are using letter to show you guys are still married, then the letter should be good enough you don’t need all the other details such as DOB or SSN.

Keep in mind as you go thru this journey that notaries simply verify signatures. That have zero to do with content of documents.

The person that did our letter only put their address and phone number and said if the USCIS or any persons wish to contact them for further information they can so do by calling.

The same thing was done for our AOS letters, have had no issues with this what so ever.

The current I-751 instructions do not request a SSN on the affidavit anyways. They don't mention notarization either. My inlaw's for our I-751 affidavit was just a signed letter with complete contact info, per the I-751 form instructions.
