Thank you both for replying. I will read the guides. So, it still has to go the NVC route. I thought we bypassed that. UGH....ok. Well, I'm glad there is no adjustment of status needed.

OMG! I just read the guides, and James' shortcuts, and I am truly overwhelmed. There are so many more forms, and more fees, and more originals. How many originals do they think we have? Ok, now, I am scared. I don't think I can do it. It is too much! Can I just say how stupid I think it is! There is NO REASON to put us through all of this! I'm now moving beyond scared, to pissed.

no touches and no noa1 hard copy as yet. How long should i wait before panic set in about the mail???

You will not have to fill out an Adjustment of Status - the intending Immigrant (your spouse) has to file that, once he is in the US to adjust his status from whichever visa that he uses to enter the US.

A CR-1 (or IR-1) visa holder is given a green card upon entry to the US, no Adjustment of Status is necessary.

For the original documents you are referencing, you will not need those until the file reaches the NVC and you can have the proper authority issue a certified copy of the document. The certified copy is an acceptable submission.

Well, from what I see, the NVC wants originals, and then when he goes for interview, they want originals. We only had so many certified copies. I have all the papers. He doesnt have any! So, when its time for interview, I wont have any other originals (cos they are from Syria, and the translations done there also). So, I hope he isnt given a hard time when trying to get more certified copies. I thought waiting for NOA2 was the long part....from what i see, that is the easy part.

I know how you're feeling, it's a bit overwhelming at first but you'll get used to it read the guides as many times you need, make notes, write it down if it's easier, make lists, at least that's what I did It's a lot of information to process but once you read it a couple of times it will be better, I promise The originals are needed only at the NVC stage so you'll be fine. You can do it! You do whatever it takes to be with your loved one Take your time, read the guides, process the information and you'll see that it's not so bad after all. The people here are very helpful so if you have questions someone here will help you out, don't worry. Good luck

NVC will forward the originals to the embassy for the interview so you don't need other originals, you only need copies. There's always a possibility that they ask for another "original" if something is lost or they are not convinced it's really original, but I think there's nothing to worry about

Don't worry! I hate paperwork too so I know how you feel. You're gonna be fine, just like everybody else here

There are not SO many papers involved in the next steps really, but some might be harder/longer to get, that's true. Well, the good news is we have about 5 months to collect everything and be ready for NVC stage

I suggest you get familiar with the NVC flowchart first, then you can take a look at the shorcuts. Reading everything at the same time is just confusing. Take it easy, it takes time but in most cases it's not so complicated in fact.

They send the notice of action via regular mail, so it was probably slowed down by thanksgiving. I don't think there's any reason to worry, you'll probably get it this week.

Thanks everyone for the support! I appreciate it! I just want him here, and seeing all of the steps, I see its just not possible to get him here that soon. I thought 5 months for the whole process....I see that is not the case. Yes, I will keep reading, and taking notes. And if I have questions, I will definitely ask! Thanks again

This process is getting everybody stressed out, worried...lol i can not wait to be in that interview, i really need to talk to that CO. My baby is on his way, i have to be in the states by May the latest.

People it seems that most of the november filers cases have been routed to CSC.

Well I feel disheartened about this process sometimes as many times I feel like my spouse is not that interested at all. If it wasn't for this site and the people on here I think I would be going mad. Well will see if we get the hardcopy hubby isn't too interested in it as he said we received e-notification which I'm telling him doesn't mean anything, the hardcopy is what counts. Pray for me guys, I wish he would just be on the same page and as interested as I am.
