This site is great but confusing when people post things that go against the posted guides e.g. needing cenomar for I-129f. The guideon this site does not mention sending a cenomar initially.

K1 visa - NOA1 - September 19, 2011

K1 visa - NOA2 - March 2012???

I am not aware of a requirement for a CENOMAR with the I-129F. I know it is needed at the interview, but where is it required for the I-129F?

Thanks.

There's no need to include a CENOMAR in the I-129F packet.

You will have to get an updated CENOMAR for your interview.

Best wishes for a smooth and speedy visa journey. :star:

The petition will be rejected and returned. He can write a new check for the correct amount $340, and send it back. You are worried about the wrong thing.

Here is what you should worry about...

Your fiance did not know the correct amount to send and sent it using the logic of "too much is better than not enough" This is wrong. In many ways. I am guessing that it may have not been the only mistake he made. Just guessing. Did he have a CENOMAR from you? A signed letter of intent from you? A signed G-325a from you? Passport photos? Was all that included, translated if needed?

It will be a couple weeks before he gets it back so I suggest that HE come to this site and READ the instructions for the form I-129f and the guides on how to file a petition for a fiancee. Ask questions and get correct answers before sending it again. This will save you time in the long run. The correct amount to send is listed in the instructions

Do not send it back until you are sure everything else is correct. When the amount of the check you sent is wrong it indicates TWO things

1. No one read the instructions

2. Without reading the instructions it is virtually impossible to do this correctly

:bonk: CENOMAR isn't required with the I-129F

Consider it a blessing that it will get sent back and give you the chance to make sure they will have everything they need! Same thing happened to me, they changed the filing amount a week before I sent it, so I of course didn't check the website to check the amount. But, they sent it back and we made it much better. Its a very small set back!

thanks guys... :-) i feel better now, we have no choice but to wait for the package, yes you are all right they will return the package to my fiance, and it is ok we were in a hurry to really send it before his surgery, he sent it through military express mail, it is my fault guys, i was confused with the amounts on travel.state. gov and uscis.gov amounts, now i realize what is on travel.state is the amount for visa fee and on the uscis.gov is for the petition fee. now i am praying that he is already well when he get the package... i am just thinking maybe there's a reason why it happened... all i want now is to my fiance to get well soon, he is having his surgery right now.... I copy Gary and Alla. Since the amount was clearly wrong (where did you get the $350 from?), before sending the package right away with the correct check, I would verify once more that EVERYTHING in it complies with the requirements of law. If something is missing or is wrong, it could cost you further delay. Check the guides in this site, they're pretty good and useful. Good luck.

This is ridiculous. Instead of going by word of mouth by all your other friends who are stuck on getting a one way ticket to the states, I suggest that you and him do some research. If the process meant as much as it truly means to some of us, you would be sure to dot the I's and cross the T's with extreme scrutiny.

hi again VJ members, my fiance just sent our package today to USCIS, i asked friends about how much is the fee for I-129f, some said 340usd some said 350usd and they also sent me link that showing 340usd and 350usd on the other link, so i told to my fiance to just put 350usd to make sure, i know i am stupid to think that is ok, then i was researching this morning and found out that it is really 340usd and the Visa application is the 350usd and i read this ("The Lockbox can not accept overpayment and make partial refunds") it was too late for me to tell him to change the amount on his check, does is mean they wont accept the petition? or they will accept it? we don't care about we are over by 10 dollars, but i am so worried now. need advice what to do... :help:

Sis, ALWAYS refer to the official website if you have doubts, don't rely on word-of-mouth. Things may have changed since the time your "friends" filed their petition. In this case, look at what the USCIS website currently says.

Use guides only after checking the official guide from the correct government website. Even here in VJ, there might be links to outdated forms.

hi... :) as I've said... i got confused of the travel.state and uscis.gov, i found out late that the amounts on travel.state is for visa fee, and the amount on uscis.gov is for the K1 petition, when i found out about it i called my fiance right away, we did a lot of research and everything is in the package, yes you are right i should have checked it again but i didn't i thought that over is good than less, it was too late for us to stop it since military express mail send out the mails/packages on the same day. it was my mistake i insist that he should put the 350usd to make sure, then i read on the lockbox guidelines that they don't accept over payment, i called him and told him to go to their post office but it was already sent out, now the uscis told us to just wait for the package because they will send it back when they see the check. i did all the research since he is an active and so busy with his job. he put everything and followed the step by step guide on this site, our mistake is the check and i accept my mistake too, it is ok it is already done, all we can do now is to correct everything :-)

Where did the OP say that she had any friends "stuck on getting a one way ticket to the states?"

If the process meant as much to you as it truly means to some of us, you wouldn't make rude, ridiculous comments which only serve to tear people down so that you can feel better about yourself.
