Spouse Name on Indian passport

Hi all,

I am applying for CR1 spouse visa.

Is it required to have spouse name on my indian passport? While interview, will CO raise a question on this?

Will it be checked during POE?

Here is how it works -

If you are applying the passport after your marriage, then you have to add your spouse name on it.

If your passport is made before the marriage, it is good time to change your (only girls) last name to your husband's name and add your spouse to your passport (you can request miscellaneous services to your passport office and have it done).

For CO raising issue - It all depends on the CO.

I will say this - it is better do it now, then if raised issue - you will be running to add spouse name to your passport.

If you live in Gujarat and your passport was issued at Ahmedabad regional passport office you have no choice but to change your middle name to your spouses name. They will not issue a passport clearance certificate unless the passport reflects the name on the Marriage Certificate.

now i think government of india is issuing new passport for any change like spouse name addition.
