About a month ago, we got an RFE because the NVC was missing the DS-230 and the birth certificate of our co-sponsor. My husband send both on January 30 and the NVC claims to have received the checklist on Feb 7.

However, my husband called them yesterday, and now they say they didn't receive the checklist letter or rather that the the birth certificate was still missing because we didn't send in the checklist. When my husband asked the if they had received the DS-230, they said yes, but they didn't seem to be aware that the DS-230 was sent with the checklist (we were instructed to do so) and so according to them the checklist is missing which is why they didn't contact us. The woman at the NVC said she would now put in a request for document search and it would take 2-4 weeks to be processed.

I'm extremely angry and upset by this negligence of the NVC especially since they told us the last time we called that they had received everything. Is there anything we can do to speed things up?

shute.....that sucks. I'd be hopping mad too. Not exactly sure that there is much you can do but wait on the document search. Perhaps someone else has an experience with same and can advise. One could possibly send in the so called missing documents with a cover letter explaining what has happened and that would be that but then again it could mess up their good records system //sarcasm

Thanks, Lorelle(?). I've thought about sending them another copy of the birth certificate but I'm afraid that will screw things up even more. I just so don't want to deal with this whole #### anymore...

*hugs* you are almost there. What if you give them a call again and ask about sending in the birth certificate...see what they say. In general NVC seems to be pretty spot on compared to the service centers 'misinformation'...despite this ####up

I know. I was quite impressed with the NVC until two days ago. It turns out that they sent 2 RFE's on the same day, both asking for the same information. My husband called them about it, and they said we just needed to return one of them. So he will now just mail the second RFE with the copy of the birth certificate and hopefully that will rectify the problem they're having. Keep your fingers crossed...
