Yay! So exciting! The medical should be fine... my husband went for his a few weeks back and said it was no big deal. Do you have all of your jabs? You'll need the flu shot (for sure) and MMR (maybe?)... Cheaper to get it on the NHS and Boots or ASDA for the flu shot.

My husband got his MMR shot for free on the NHS. I guess it might depend on your doctor, though. I know they can charge for it...

Many doctors do it free, but they don't have to since it's for immigration purposes. It will be up to your doctor whether he charges you or not.

The required shot is not "tetanus." It is Tdap or Td for adults, but DT, DTP or DTaP (child versions) will also be accepted.

D =diptheria

T = tetanus

P = pertussis (whooping cough)

I thought that me and my son had all the required vaccinations but when we got to the medical last wast the nurse informed me I had to have MMR and influenza and my son had Hep b (1st dose), Influenza and pre-school booster that is required for chidren in the USA. in total it cam to an extra 140.... the nurse did offer me the choice to go have these done at own GP's but after travelling all the way down to london and then wondering if the GP would even give my son the ones they were asking for i just though sod it lets get it all done!.
