Hello Everyone, today I had my intervew and will tell my experience!

I had an apointment for 8:30, got in the building around 7:40, went trhou all the process till I get sitted and wait for them to call my name. They called my name around 9:10. When the IO saw me, she asked me where is your husband? I said "he is in boot camp". When I got to her office she made a phone call asking what was the process for a military spouse. So then, I took the interview by myself. Fisrt she took a look on my husbands military orders and a letter from his commandant, she checked everything and the dates he is in trainning. Then, she asked me for proof we are together, I showed her bank account statements, PSeG, Leasing, my helthy insurance from his military, then she asked for pictures. She made so many questions, question related to the pictures also. I think the interview took a little more than 30 min, in the end she said if it was ok to keep some pictures ( she kept 5 or 6 pics), she also kept all the bank statements and my husbands military orders. She said "it looks approved to me but i will need to review it"! She made a copy of my passport, I-94, my husbands citizen ( I had a copy of everything, but she didnt ask for it).

She even explained to me about the condional 2 years green card, she gave me the website and everything, but I dont know what to think, because she said it looks approved, but she didnt approved right the way, also she didnt keep my I-94. So i was reading some forums, and I saw that sometimes they take so many months to get an answer in this situation.

I am not going to deny, I was nervous, the IO was very polity, but serious , I think she noticed I was a little nervous, even to answer the date of my birth lol...I think its normal, because I was by myself there and didnt know what to expect.

Now, I would like to know how long do you think I will get an asnwer about my case? And it is normal not to keep the I-94?

Thanks all and good luck !!

You should be fine. The interviewer either needs to double-check that she did everything correctly on HER end of things, or she needs her supervisor to sign off on the approval. If they want or need anything else, they'll let you know exactly what. It sounds as though you handled things very well -- and nervousness is normal, si man. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It is natural for you to get all nervous during the interview, so don't bother about that. From your description, your interview has gone pretty well. The IO may need to recheck all your proof, so that is why she has not approved it immediately. Keep checking the USCIS website to know the status of your application. It is not mandatory to take away the I-94 from the applicant, so be at ease.

It seems that you weren't approved at the time of interview. The IO usually takes the I-94, but in some cases they don't take it. It doesn't mean that you won't get approved, though. No need to panic. There might be a tons of reasons why your case is being delayed or needs additional review. What does the online status show?

09/03/15 - AOS mailed to Chicago

10/05/15 - RFE recvd

10/07/15 - Biometrics done, RFE sent

10/13/15 - Online status changed RFE under review

10/15/15 - 2nd RFE issued and mailed

11/18/15 - RFE response sent

12/03/15 - i765 Approved

12/10/15 - EAD recvd

12/17/15 - Interview is scheduled on Jan 21

01/21/16 - Approved/Card in production

01/28/16 - GC recvd

Help again... It's been almost a month and I didn't get any aprovement letter ... What should I do?? Wait? How long more??

Thanks

I too agree that not taking the I-94 isn't the best sign.

Prepare for a Stokes Interview. You might not get one but better to be prepared just in case.

I still think you are fine. Sometimes the approvals may take a while and as you mentioned, it seemed like your interviewing officer was uncertain about how to handle the interview with your husband at boot camp. You may wish to call the i-800 information number and when it asks for the reason for your call, select the one that says you are outside of processing time. This should get you to a person. You can then explain it has been over a month since your interview and you wish to know if you need to submit more information and would like to speak with an immigration officer.

The officer should be able to give you some sort of status 'update' on your file. If you do have problems or worry, there should be a military immigration liaison officer available through the camp where your husband is stationed or at the closest military establishment. You can always request their services.

Good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you hear good news soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
