Doubts about questions 32 and 33

Hey Guys,

What exactly should I put in questions 32 and 33 of Form DS-156?

The questions ask respectively:

Intend to work in the United States?

Intend to study in the United States?

The answers to both questions: YES

But they ask the local employer and educational institution ...

Since I do not know until I get there, what should I put?

Thank you!

Hello, you answer these questions "yes, with work authorization" and "Yes, pending approval of AOS" or "Yes, with greencard".

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-156.pdf

here is the example form from this site. They suggest saying "No" for "do you intend to study" you have to wait until after you receive your greencard anyway and once you do they aren't going to say "oh oh.... you said you didn't intend to study but you went to school once you got your greencard". Once you have your green card you can work, study, and travel as you wish. So I don't believe it will hurt anything to put "no" but then enroll into university after you get your greencard, HOWEVER, I believe if you're just honest and say "yes I will study after the AOS" you won't have any problems either.

Good Luck! - Rich

Answer Yes to both if you intend to work and study, but put with work authorization, employer unknown in question 32 if you answer Yes and school not known yet in question 33 if you also answer Yes to this question. That's what i put in mine. Hope this helps?

Follow the Example forms. It doesn't really matter since the questions are not really germane to a K-1 visa. Remember these forms are used for other types of visas and are more pertinent to those.

Some choices

"NA, K-1 visa"

OR

"Yes, with authorization"

OR

"Yes"

Doesn't really matter. The DS156 is used for many visa types (DS156K supplement is for fiancees only)so it asks some questions not relevent to the K-1

There are no restrictions on studying. Alla answered YES to studying and started her Masters program with a 50% scholarship 5 days after arriving. There is NO restriction against going to school with a K-1 visa.

But, in reality this is not a concern for K-1s anyway so just give honest answers.
