I am wondering what might have caused her behavior?I did not do anything wrong.I moved to Nyc last august and she had to fill out my current address.Back in May 2011 ,I had a summer course for a few weeks in Nyc which I stayed at my cousins house.she needed the address and I gave her. That is all.Changing jobs or relocation are simple life situations, but she kept on saying I am confused.

Yours is a prime example.

I have asked the question before if The COs ever gets a "God Complex" and just be mean and "screw" people over just because they can.

I have been told CO never does that because they have no reason to do that. So if they were tough on you it must have been because there was errors in your documents or you did something wrong.

I agree with you..there must have been a lot of errors in their docs thats why...Ive been reading a lot of stories from people that has gone interviews at the US embassy in Manila but all of them were praises of how nice the CO's were....nothing like this......odd.

Errors are understandable.she did not even let me talk for 30 seconds.if you justify it like this and makes you happy then do it.My assumptions are either she was not mentally able to process information or she was simply rude and racist.

You are comparing apples to oranges. A CO in Manila lives in the foreign country and interviews native people before they come to the US. The IO here lives in NYC and is interviewing people who have just come to the US. Most people who live in NYC are nice, but there are those few that if you do not speak 250 words a minute think you are wasting their time and treat you "in a not very nice way". This person maybe of one those. Throughout this entire process I have always been afraid of getting one of these types as I would 1) bit my tongue, 2) go off on them, or 3) be nice and I always figured I woulld end up doing #2.

I would see if there was a way to complain as the USCIS does not need this type of person working for them.

Dave,

English is my second language but I am fluent.Even my american friends say that I do not have accent.May be if I talk 15 min you would realize it,but absolutely not in a routine conversation and I do talk fast as Americans do.

I think the officer just did not like me wanted to give me hard time.she constantly interrupted me, no eye contact, shouting at me.My husband got so mad,he said you should have stopped her and asked for her supervisor as soon as she insulted you.I have high educational degree and usually people treat me nice and respect me.This was like a shock to me.She did it on purpose to make me feel bad.

Niki youre acting like a typical entitled iranian and that is coming from an iranian.youre doing everything possible to make sure this wont happen again, whats with the attitude ? It's not the officers job to befriend you and swap recipes With you. The way they look at it, you may or may not be a terrorist and it's her job to determine that.jeez what is it with middle easterns and their paranoia that everyone is after them just because of their color or nationality

PS: this is not Iran, people don't care how high your level of education is,if you're an #### you're a highly educated #### (hypothetically of course)

no , I am not saying because I am high educated I should receive extra attention.I am just saying usually I am pleasant for official people because they see I process information fast communicate well.I do not need several times of repeat.

I have never had hard time in official places, besides in most interviews the interviewer analyses the person subconsciously. It is a nature of human behavior , more than %80

impression you get from the person is in non verbal communication, body language , tone of voice etc etc.

This is the first time I was treated in this way by an official person. If this was a repeat I would have said something might be wrong with me like my speaking abilities or creating sense of trust.I am very naive and polite person.I wish the interview had been video taped so I could prove it.Even she raised her voice several times on me I stayed quite.I knew that the interview does not take me anywhere.Maybe she had a bad day, or I reminded her of a bad memory.Who knows?

I guess my sarcasm got lost.

First; I do not think you did ant thing wrong and I assume your papers weren't totally disorganized like maybe the dog chewed.

I was told by others on VJ that something like you experianced would never happen. I think they were wrong and you are proof that it does happen.

I understand the concept of an officer being tough to try and "shake you up" maybe you would make a mistake and say something wrong. But unless they want to hold you over night and not let you go to the bathroom or something they need to back-off. To not let you answer their questions but instead make you wait weeks or months more to file more papers is just "cruel". That's when they git the "God complex". They know they have you life in there hands. They are just low level paper pushers with no control over there own life. But in your life they have more power to inflict pain and suffering on you and your family then any court or judge ever could.

My wife was born in Colombia, stepdaughter in Venezuela, when coming her, wife wanted to stop in Colombia to visit her mom. Both, were delayed in Milwaukee, the POE for three hours for a complete strip search, both of their luggage was cut up into little pieces. Why? Because anyone that comes from Colombia is trying to sneak drugs into this country. Yes, I was very upset, but couldn't do a damn thing about it. But as long as I traveled with her, she was okay.

Brother fell in love with an Iranian girl, at one time we were friends, can't believe after 30 years, he is still talking about her, but would have been suicide for her if they even held hands.

So how did you dress at your interview? American or traditional? Shouldn't make any difference in this country, but may have played a strong role with your interviewer. Strange how people are judged by where they are from.

Your senators office should be able to help you, we also have court of laws.

How did you come here? Marriage? Job? Win the lottery?

I believe your word that she was rude, I was grilled at my k-1 interview. Even tho the lady wasn't rude, she questioned my almost three year long relationship through and through. They don't wanna be responsible for another 9.11, so to them,we are terrorists or gold diggers, all of us regardless of the country, until we prove otherwise. Every other government office is different than immigration offices.my husband is a marine and every where we go,people respect me and go above and beyond when they see my military ID, but in the interview, despite the fact that I had contacted the embassy before hand about him wanting to be there, they didn't even let him in and to some degree treated him badly. Point is, they are just as responsible for the safety of their country as FBI or CIA or any military branch is.

yes, what you are saying makes sense.I am not saying why my case was not approved but,why she did not let me even finish two sentences. There were issues that I could clarify and

She simply refused to listen to me.That is odd for one hour interview session.I had many interview experiences in my life never experienced such a thing.I got the chance to clarify things when needed.Otherwise they can ask for more paperwork for as long as they want.

If you don't mind me asking, what were the "issues"? You might think they're small issues but they could explain why she wasn't interested in listening.

like change of address, reason of relocation, car insurance card and expiration date on it,why my income was not included in 2008 tax(because I was a student at that time) these sort of things.I do not want to create fear for others but it is a good idea to be over prepared. She even asked for the lease of home we own.Anything that is proof of living together. To be honest I am not able to provide all of the checklist she asked for by my next appointment.Like she wanted all the credit card and bank statements for the past three yrs or car insurances. It would be too much time consuming for me.I am married almost 10 yrs now.I did not expect that she goes to this much details.

Was your husband there? Well the expired car insurance card implies that you WERE on his insurance but aren't anymore (so that's a reminder to bring RECENT and VALID info). Filing taxes together - even though I wasn't working I WAS on my husbands 2009 taxes (and will be on 2010) so I could understand that. Change of address/relocation - you didn't explain whether you were living together or why that was an issue. The lease for the home you own - probably checking to see if your name is on it. Sounds like she doesn't think you're STILL together so try and gather as much RECENT evidence as you can.
