has anyone done the n400 before receiving the greencard?

It's very possible, and in fact somewhat recommended.

You are perfectly entitled to apply for naturalization once you meet all of the conditions outlined in the N-400 instructions, whether your RoC has been approved or not. That's the law, so USCIS have to respect it. Applying for citizenship forces USCIS to dig up your RoC application, move it to the front of the line, and process it immediately so they can do the N-400.

If you are otherwise eligible to apply for citizenship, but your RoC is still stuck in limbo, sending in an N-400 is a good way to force them to move on it. USCIS care a lot more about citizenship applications than Removal of Condition applications (you can tell from the relative volume and quality of instructional material they've created for the two processes). Citizenship is much closer to their hearts, core values, public image, and mission statement (not to mention much more confiningly defined for them by Congress) than the minor bureaucratic hoop that is RoC, so applying for citizenship definitely has the effect of dragging a late RoC process to completion.

attorneys are form fillers. There is nothing they can do that you cant as far as ive seen. Id wait and just file n400.

ill put money on it that it is. I bet its a cluster f**k there and they have lost all our forms. Misplaced everything. Just file n400 and they will be like um ok heres citizenship. im 11months 1 day since they received my I751. There target processing time is supposed to be 6 months.

Hi everyone... I'm on the November list and we also got an RFE!! There were a lot, eh? Anyway... just wanted to let you all know, we sent in the RFE info about 3 weeks or less ago and I found out yesterday that I was approved! Which is great.

Another thing? If you send in your stuff and call the NCIS, they are NOT going to know if it was received or not -- it's very annoying.

So yepper, done and done with this round and good luck to everyone else.

APPROVED!!! My wife got a text message at 9:40 pm (CDT) informing us the case status was updated. Logged in to the USCIS site and saw the approval message. It only took almost a year, but it finally happened. I had no idea when I filed back in November of '11 that the ROC was going to be almost as stressful as the original CR-1 filing. Now... I get to fill out the N-400.

Good luck to everyone still waiting. Ours is the second approval in two days, so maybe the VSC is back on the November cases.
