They are just now working on August filings. It's not fair, but at least you know where they are with the approval process. You don't have to worry that something is wrong.

Got my green card in the mail today, May 30, 2012! My mandatory immigration journey is over. Thank goodness!

By the by, I like the old green card better. That card was a bit more stable. The new one seems very thin and bendy if one isn't careful. I'll keep the old one as a souvenir for sure.

Congrats!

I agree, the new cards give the distinct impression of being somewhat cheaper to manufacture. Though they do have your birthday in raised lettering, which would raise the cost a little bit. Maybe that's what they're doing - cutting down on materials costs to cover the price of the extra manufacturing step.

I also filed with Vermont and still waiting. i am going to Dominican Republic in August for my anniversary. will not getting the new green card affect me, or can i just attach the letter to my expired green card? am so confused.

Bring your expired green card AND the letter with you. We did this a few months ago and breezed through without a problem.

I received the approval letter last 04/16, and I'm still waiting for my greencard. I checked online and it says "The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on May 29, 2012. You should receive your new card within 7 days." YAY!
