Maybe MikeInWyoming will predict us more good news this week?

Well, for the CSC group there could be one more this week but it's not clear to me. Next week should produce two more. It's not like I have a crystal ball and more like a statistical thing... and you know what they say about statistics... There are lies, there are damned lies and then there are statistics.

Never the less. good luck to all of you, our fellow travelers, from my wife Beth and me. It may take some time but may we all get to the end in good shape. For those who are VSC filers... I don't know what else to say other than it seems fundamentally unfair that you have to want so long.

Yeah, I called them too, they said my bio went well, so really right now I can do is relax even though I am sometimes curious about the updates :-D

Congrats to all who got the approvals! cutedolphinn: I am having the same issue, my case doesn't show up online. I called them 2 weeks ago, they said this can happen sometimes and they assured to me that my case is in the system and said that I should not worry. This means there is no way for us to get any update before receiving the approval letter, which I think is also the case with those who can get the updates online.

Hi,

USCIS received my CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS on November 3, 2011 to the California center.

I had my biometrics taken on November 29, 2011.

I've been waiting for a while and still haven't heard anything yet.

On the USCIS website, my status is marked as Initial Review.

Should I be worried now? Anyone sent the application in around my time and still waiting? What are my chances of getting interviewed?

Please let me know...

There is no need to be worried.

The CSC is only just now starting to get around to processing November 2011 I-751 filers. Your timeline is perfectly normal.

Also, it is perfectly normal to see no updates or touches on the case, and for it to stay in Initial Review, until the Card Production Ordered email.

Your chances of being interviewed, in the absence of any other factors, is less than 20%.

"NOA1" is local jargon for the first I-797 Notice of Action letter USCIS send you when you file a form with them. For Removal of Conditions, your NOA1 was your Extension Letter.

"Early Bio" next to a person's entry means that the person went to the USCIS office to do their biometrics appointment several days or weeks before their officially assigned biometrics appointment date. Some people decide to try this because it is inconvenient to get to their local USCIS office and they don't want to make an extra trip, or because they will be out of town on the official appointment day, etc. Some local USCIS offices allow people to do their biometrics appointment on a walk-in basis - many do not.

what does NO1A stands for, and what does Early Bio mean? sorry for stupid questions, but I'm new to this whole thing.

NOA1 Notice of action number 1

Early Bio - Applicant went to the field office earlier then date of appointment given on NOA1. Some Field offices allows it. Make sure yours does before you show up at the office.

Yes,

11/03 is the date they received my application (Listed on the USCIS status check website)

I sent couple days earlier, maybe 10/28 or something, I can't remember the exact day.

My GC showed up in the mail yesterday! Woo!

Besides the card design itself, several aspects of it are very different than when I received my 2-year GC:

The envelope, for starters. It was sent in a 6"x9" USPS flat rate envelope, with a big window in the right half and a small window for the return address in the top left. The only thing showing through the small window was Laguna Niguel, CA, and a zip code. No external indication at all that the envelope came from USCIS at all, which is probably an important security measure, given how valuable a 10-year GC would be to some people. I wonder if they send the 2-year GCs this way now too?

The I-797D mailer inside has been completely redesigned. It's an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper folded only once, in half, to fit in the envelope. The older mailer was a light cardboard stock with a die-cut set of slots in it, with the card passed through it. The new mailer is a much lighter stock, more like medium bond paper (lighter than the normal I-797 NOA watermark stock). The GC is stuck to it by a sticky blob, the way credit cards are, instead of being put in slots in the paper. The text seems to have been nontrivially reworked, but I didn't compare it in detail.

The card itself feels a little thinner and lighter. If you've not seen pictures of the new design, the picture is now black and white (they let me smile at biometrics, and it's actually a pretty good picture of me. Too bad I won't be able to keep it after I get my citizenship!

The entire package, in fact gives the distinct impression that it's had significant cost-cuttign measures applied to it.

The little protective envelope that comes with the card is a much more rigid material than the almost vellum-type material the old envelope was. I couldn't tell at first, but the edge has worn a bit and you can see that there's a layer of foil in it, which is what allows it to protect against long distance RFID readers scanning the chip inside the card.

The other materials in the envelope are the same as what I got with my 2-year GC - a folded piece of cardboard that was holding the little protective envelope, and the Welcome to the US brochure for Permanent Residents.

Boy it feels good to have this step all finished and done with! Now begins the wait for citizenship eligibility, which for me begins on September 13, the day after my 3rd wedding anniversary. I've got the fee saved up and set aside already, and I've got this years tax transcript already ordered, so I'm already well on the way!
