Thanks for the answer! :) What do you mean exactly by "as long as the petitioner maintains his employment history"? Does that mean as long as he's always had a job in the past? (He has been in the military for 7 years, and his contract recently ended.) I am VERY much stressing about this because I have read a few stories on VJ where the customs guy actually asks about employment.... questions like "what does your husband does for a living?" Ewww. I'm nervous!

Who is the petitioner: you or your husband dispatching from the military?

If you - he should not worry too much about his employment. The IO might ask him about his job or might not. Petitioner - is the person who might be focused on. Again, the IO might not even ask about the petitioner's employment. Like today, when my wife was passing the interview, the IO even didn't ask her about my (petitioner) employment. Everything is upon the person who 's interviewing.

Those stories about beneficiary entering the US? Since you're the petitioner and working now - what is your concern? If your husband comes to visit you in the USA while your petition is still in process - then he will have to show ties to his country: job, property etc, which means that he would be coming back.

Good luck  and as I advise to everyone on upcoming interview: don't stress yourself too much about it. It would be piece of cake, believe me!

Yay, grats! kicking.gif

The interview package = Packet 4.

As for DHL, I'd suggest waiting until the case arrives in Montreal just to be safe. Yes, I've seen people sign up way before they even get an interview date, but I'd feel uneasy signing up that early in case something goes wrong.

And good luck at the medical. Book it as soon as you can in case there's any problems.

Hey Saylin from the DHL website I got the info that a package has been sent on 2nd Dec from Portsmouth and delivered to the Montreal consulate on 5th Dec. But how will I be sure that, this was my package. Do I need to call the Consulate to verify before I sign in for the DHL?

My husband (petitioner) is the one who was dispatched from the military.

I do understand the interview is mainly about me (beneficiary) and my reasons to come to the US and whats not... but in all logic, i'm guessing they do care about if my husband can financially support me once i become a permanent resident or not. So it would just make sense to me if they did ask questions about his employment :/

Actually, i am not wanting to move right away to the US anyway. My USC husband is currently living with me in Canada, and I have a few things to get done with before i move. But things went really fast with our immigration process and i'm afraid that because of his current unemployment i will fail at the interview (which he plans to attend with me btw). If we're gonna be alright in the current situation well okay - otherwise i'd rather wait a few months till he lands a new job before going to the interview .. hmm. AAh it could be so easy but it's not. lol

My package got to NVC on monday December 5th and I got a CASE COMPLETED this morning( called few minutes ago)

personally I believe submitting my AOS/DS-230 TOGETHER helped move this stage very fast . They did not have to hang unto the AOS documents for days before the DS-230 form arrived( I learned from some people's experience with false RFE for that). I was waiting for my mom's police certificate from Nigeria . So even though I was anxious to get something to them, I held on to the AOS until the DS-230 documents( drove USPS staff in my neighborhood crazy checking up everyday for that police report mail :rofl::rofl: ) were complete then mailed together.

Nice job!! They were reviewed quick.

I just want people to know that I mailed them separately and I got case complete 13 days from receiving case number without problems. So, I think either way is acceptable.

Good Luck on the interview.

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

The consulate doesn't have a number to call, so call up DOS tomorrow and ask them if the consulate in Montreal has received your package. They'll confirm whether or not they have.

Since he's the petitioner and don't have current job, he will need a co-sponsor or you can use your income for this purpose (like same household).

Here are couple links for you:

Read the instructions for I-864 and try to do search on VJ for your question. I'm pretty much sure there were similar situations like yours. If I find, I'll provide with more links.

We got our interview date assigned today!

However we want to reschedule it to sometime around May 2012.

On the website they give you, our appointment date doesn't show (which is weird.. does it takes a while to appear there?)

And of course, the dates available in May won't be shown before a few months...

So I thought I'd send the consulate an email, to notify them that I won't be at my appointment and want to reschedule a new one

whenever the dates become available, but in their automated reply, you can read this:

Please note: IV Unit will NOT reply to inquiries about DHL courier services, scheduling / rescheduling an appointment, status of documents sent to/from the Consulate. These inquires should be addressed to CSC Visa Information Services

So yeah, fine ... I sent an email to CSC Visa Info and got this automated reply:

Inquiries concerning visa questions or assistance in confirming, canceling, or rescheduling (aside from No Shows) your visa appointment will not be answered through this service.

We cannot provide you any status updates regarding your application (NIV or IV) as we are not consular officers.

So now once again in this immigration process I am confused, lol.

That's just a standard timeline they give to people. There's also the "20 business days" line that operators say. In actuality, it usually just takes a week or two for NVC to review documents. You should hear back either this week or next. Just keep calling an operator every single day!
