I was gonna go on trip to Canada for my wife's interview, but got e-mail from manager saying that he can't approve those switches between me and other people. So, it means that my wife would go for her interview alone.

OH NO :crying: I'm sorry. Might have the same problem - I think I'll have work that falls right around that time, and it just sucks.

Yeah, I'd definitely scan the documents and email them in case the documents don't make it in time.

Thanks Saylin! I'd definitely do that. Better have something than nothing at all. Hmmm, I was just wonderin, does NVC/USEM call petitioner's employers? Coz in my hubby's previous employment, since his just new to job during that time (4months), he requested for an "emergency" leave (told them a diff reason of why flying back in PI - didn't mention he's gonna get married). Then when he returned to the US as a married man, his employer and co-workers (they saw my hubby wearing our wedding ring 2weeks after coming back from PI) assumed that he did got married to a his long time gf (they knew about me) who is working as a nurse in a diff city (which is not entirely true coz yes, I'm a nurse but is working in a diff continent! :P Most prolly they thought that since his goin to that city during his day offs, his gf lives there). I'm just worried that NVC/USEM would give them (previous employer) a call and when asked they will answer differently. My hubby's current job knew that he is petitioning his wife though. What do you think? :help:

What's wrong with your PCC? Expiration date?

It's a federal police cert. with fingerprint check (as required), however it only covers 'unspent' offences. (In Australia, certain offences in your past are withheld after a certain period of time and are no longer able to be used against you - for job applications etc.)

I think I chose the wrong type on the application cert. even though the type I requested was specifically for 'Overseas Employment / Visa' and was advised by the Australian Federal Police that it would be sufficient. There is another type that Australia uses for immigration that is full disclosure of all past crimes. I suspect I should have selected that type. I have written to the US Consulate and the NVC, but they haven't confirmed I need a new one yet. I'm not sure I want to spend another $145 if I don't have to. It's going to be another 3 week wait for one if I need one though... :(

You can call NVC withing 1 week once they receive and ask them.

My confusion came when I read on another thread that the interviewing officer at designated consulate in fact approves your AOS. But I would say that NVC's review is what it matters. Otherwise how would they have sent your papers to consulate if the petitioner doesn't meet requirements as a sponsor  ?

Both NVC and the consulate/embassy approve the NVC. It first goes through NVC, and they make sure everything is in order (numbers add up, poverty guideline has been met, etc). And then once it's interview time, the consulate/embassy review it as well and make sure they approve of the amount being made. As far as I know, I think it's only Asian and African countries that scrutinize the AOS more than other countries.

As far as I know, no, NVC nor consulates/embassies call employers. But, I'm not an employee there, so, I can't say for sure. I highly doubt they're gonna call and inquire about trips he's taking and the reasons he was giving. Now, if you were from a Middle Eastern or African country and your case was going through AP because of suspicions of fraud, then yes, they might call. But otherwise, I'd say no and you can stop worrying about it.

At the top right of the page where your little profile box is, click on 'Settings' underneath your username. Then click on the 'Profile' tab and 'Change Signature' on the left side. Voila! Put anything in the textbox and save and that's it!

Saylin,

We are still waiting on interview date. We closed at NVC on October 11th. I was wondering if you knew why they make us wait 30 more days if we do not get scheduled in the following month. For example: October 17th, they told me we did not get November date, call back by November 15th. On November 15th, they told me we did not get December date, call back by December 15th.

I am so confused as to why they do not go ahead and schedule you for the next available interview date. Are they just picking and choosing who and when they want to interview. Is it possible that another married couple closing a month later at NVC would get an interview date before us?

What does your experience tell you on these issues?

Thanks.

NOA 1 November 15, 2010

NOA 2 August 25, 2011

Thank you my wonderful God in Heaven.

Saylin,

any specific email format to write to embassy or consulate, to enquire regarding PCC

I'd put your case number in the subject line for sure. In the body, include the following information of both the petitioner and beneficiary: full name, birth date, and email address. Then include the case number again.

All I can think is that your consulate/embassy is backed up. Look at those going through Ghana. They have to wait up to a year after CC to get their interview date assigned. And currently those going through Cairo are waiting 4-6 months to get their interview date. Some consulates/embassies just have a backlog and you have to wait longer than others.

All you can do is to continue calling every single day, and not listen to their script they give.

I wish you luck. Stay positive and imagine having an interview date, and before you know it, you will :)
