Yes, very happy. I think they had approved it pretty much before his interview. First a Moroccan woman asked him a few questions - like why did we postpone the interview so many times (we only postponed once, so she was exaggerating). Then a white American guy, the same as we saw in a video about the DV Lottery, asked him a few questions about me, why we didn't get married when I came (I had planned to and got the letter of availability to marry from consulate before, but his father disapproved), he answered honestly, he said his father didn't approve and you know, he is from a conservative family, but in the end it is his life. The guy asked a few more questions about how we met, what I did for work, how many students I had, what I did before, whether I was married before, about my kids and if I had sisters and brothers, what we would do for money (he said money is not a problem for us), and what he would do for work here - he said he would teach Arabic if he could find the work. He answered honestly what he knew and what he didn't know, but he said it already said approved on the paperwork, and then the guy told him he was approved. He said it took about 3 minutes. He was the last person to be interviewed. He said all the other people who came before were tourist or business visas.

In my experience, being honest and honestly addressing the red flags helps or at least doesn't hinder the case. It's when people sort of try to hide them or not acknowledge them or worse deny they exist that people get into trouble. I was divorced and remarried very close together. Ammar was only asked one question which was: why I got divorced. I addressed that in my cover letter and his answer was MYOB to the consular officer. He was still approved. :) I know in my situation though as well as others I have witnessed over the years here and offline, it seemed this sort of upfront behavior often, but not always, resulted in a more practical experience with less "drama."

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like front loading helped you guys.

Yes. I was very careful though, because I didn't want to give too much stuff up front, either, and have things get too complicated for us when he was finally interviewed and they asked him questions - we are both a bit right-brained, so trying to remember things we talked about two or three years ago would be pretty trying for us. I did prepare a folder and put all the different stuff I thought he might need, so if they asked, he could just give it to them. I think what helped is that we took our time with everything the whole way. We knew eventually, somehow, we would be together, so we didn't push anything at all. We just have confidence in relationship.
