Hi Everyone,

Hope all is going well for all of you and the government is moving quickly...if that's possible.

We had our 485 transferred to CSC from Chicago lock box/Bloomington, MN on July 14th, 2011. Has not been touched since. Now coming up on 3.5 months. In some of the stats I've seen the vast majority of people the same as us (wife is from China/K1 visa/married before 90 days/etc) never have an AOS interview. But an InfoPass officer suggested just yesterday that such cases ALWAYS have an interview?? Comments? Experiences? Thanks so much. Just getting a little antsy since we see so many other people getting their green card in a few months, and we're still waiting after 3.5.

Just some thoughts. We are also near 3.5 months. Our I485 sat in Chicago from July 22 until September 6 when it was transferred to CSC. Nothing since then. I do think there has to be a variance in processing time from country to country. It has to be easier to do background checks in Canada or GB than in China or Venezuela. For the most part, though, I think most delays are caused by USCIS and its inability to perform the task of processing applications in a timely manner. Your application is most likely sitting in a box or on a desk and has not been touched since it arrived in California.

I have had to opportunity to look through the manual used by the people who process the applications and there does not seem to be an organized procedure for doing the work. It is filled with instructions that tell the processor that they must do certain things, but provides no instructions on how to do those things. So, if your application lands on the desk of someone who is conscientious and has determined how to process an application, your file will be processed quickly. If not, you will have to wait until the person at that desk can figure out what to do.

Again, USCIS has left me with nothing to do but speculate on their activity. Just now it is why they do and don't (mostly don't) get things done.

Untrained Visa Officer at the InfoPass Appointment. VJ has data proving otherwise.

I think a lot of, if not most, cases that get transferred to CSC don't have an interview. If it were my case, I think I would have hoped to hear something by now, but I guess I would just continue waiting awhile. Have she received her EAD or AP yet?

Also, something to remember, is that you can't really rely on the website updates. Some never get "touched" and some get "touched" all the time. It's not a very reliable way to know what's going on unfortunately. I've even heard of cases where the website will still say "initial Processing" and people will get their greencards in the mail! If I were you, I might call them and ask for the status of your case. The first person you talk to won't always have any more information than what is on the website, but you could ask to be transferred to someone higher for possibly more information.

Good luck! And try not to stress about it too much :)
