Is this normal? :innocent:

See my timeline in Phoenix, AZ. I have never been scheduled or done FP. Been waiting patiently thinking my local office could just be busy. Tonight I got an update that: On December 21, 2011, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. Anyone every heard of an interview w/out FP?

My 2nd question is, did y'all have this kind of message:

The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

Am a little panicked because:

1) I would like for my process to be like everyone else's - mail application, get FPs done, then the interview. I don't like being "special".

2) I was waiting for my FP before I could start reviewing the civics questions. But this is not a big deal.

Hi,

First of all, congrats for your case moving fast.

Now, to answer your questions

1. Yep, it's perfectly normal. Many people skip the FP step because they may have done biometrics within the last 12-16 months and more likely the old ones are still valid. Some others are still asked to go for FP despite have them done within that time frame.

2. The wording in the email is normal and standard, it's the same for everyone. Mine stated the same than yours.

Good luck you are one step closer.

Got you. Thanks. I was getting a little more worried cos I went through the timelines upto 2010 and most people have FP.

I still haven't received my FP appointment, or any updates on my case  ... I hope I'm one of those people who skip that step, and the delay is not due to some glitch in the system regarding my case, in which case the processing would take forever... Like someone said before me, I don't like being "special", I want my case to be processed like everybody else's.

A question for you guys: where do I get some information about the civics test, the questions and whatever else is necessary? I heard they have a list of 100 questions or something like that, where do you get those from and the book or whatever it is that we have to study for the test?

What happens if I don't get to have my FP done? It's been a while since i filed my papers at the beginning of November, and I haven't even been scheduled for FP yet, and I don't really see it happen. I found the questions and answers on the USCIS website, but is this enough?

The same booklet and audio file that you get in the FP appointment is on the USCIS site. I also recommend you the flash cards (very useful) You can find them all here:

Study material for the Civic test

I also like these links to study:

US Citizenship Podcast

The New (current) USCIS Naturalization Civics Test

Civics (History and Government) Questions for the Redesigned (New) Naturalization Test.

Keep in mind that some questions like Speaker of the House, Senator, Representatives, Governor, need to be update.

Good luck!

Just checked my status on the USCIS website and I got the standard "scheduled for interview" information. Surprised to see it because I haven't received an email although I am signed up for notifications. Hopefully I am scheduled for an interview AFTER Jan 12, my 3 year anniversary. Won't be anxiously waiting for the mailman, though, unlike the AOS/EAD/K3 process!

I got a notice on Dec.22 that my case has been scheduled in line for an interview. With no fingerprints done. Well, it doesn't say anything about the FP, so I don't know what to think, I hope I'm not gonna have problems at the interview or somewhere along the line because of the lack of FP. It wouldn't be my fault, but the USCIS is known to not be particularly concerned with whose fault it really is in one situation or another.

We'll see what happens...
